After being transported from outdoor to indoor environments, a large portion of ozone (O3) reacts with chemicals generate O3 reaction products. A fraction these products can partition fine particulate matter (PM2.5). Hence, we hypothesize that PM2.5 serves as carrier deliver the deep lung, leading synergistic adverse pulmonary effects. In panel study involving 43 children asthma, each was assessed 4 times (2-week interval) for biomarkers respiratory pathophysiology and personal exposures O3. We also loss exposures, calculated by taking difference between concentrations, which proportional net exposure found effects on inflammation, airway (especially lower airway) mechanics, spirometry lung function were greater at higher levels. This suggests an additional mechanism effects: predisposes be more susceptible vice versa. However, our data is limited in differentiating two potential mechanisms.

Human chemical exposure often occurs indoors, where large variability in contaminant concentrations and indoor dynamics make assessments of these exposures challenging. Organic films containing unsaturated lipids are widespread, yet their oxidation pathways with associated impacts on contaminant lifetimes and human exposure remain poorly explored under indoor environmental conditions. This study demonstrates that UVA radiation radical drive rapid autoxidation of thin methyl linolenate (ML) canola oil (which contains polyunsaturated triglycerides), primarily producing organic hydroperoxides. Reactive oxygen species (ROS) are relatively unstable oxygen-containing radicals or non-radicals, some of which may react with tissues and biomolecules after entering the body. ROS is present in indoor aerosols, but it unclear how much that origin. Indoor surface films have been hypothesized to be a major source observed on aerosols. In this study, concentration residential surfaces was measured using xylenol orange ferrous oxidation assay wiping extraction. On genuine frequently touched by apartment occupants, >0.2 nmol cm-2; infrequently were at below detection limits. clean glass plates had deployed apartments for 6 weeks, horizontal higher concentrations than vertically oriented plates. The highest concentration, 1.3 cm-2, horizontally plate close an electric stove. To simulate dynamic unsaturated hydrocarbons surfaces, lipid mixture (SLM) dosed 19 then exposed untreated laboratory air periods ranging from 1 56 days.
