Triazine herbicides (THs) are used globally to control weeds in urban environments, but their transformation products (TPs) rarely considered due the lack of reference standards. In this study, a total 41 TPs were found wastewater influents and effluents 28 municipal treatment plants (MWWTPs) from six cities China by integrating suspect screening (36 TPs), molecular networking (9 diagnostic fragment searching (12 TPs). Among these, 36 detected for first time aquatic reported environments. Polar THs only partially removed aqueous phase process. Concentrations present ranged 107 435 ng/L. Thus, discharged pose medium risk freshwater algae receiving waters. Moreover, 4 (ametryne, atrazine, terbutryn, prometryne) 3 (atrazine-desisopropyl, TP247, TP258) significant risks several effluents. Considering persistent mobile properties ecological TPs, these contaminants should be specifically further environmental monitoring included regulation.

Limited knowledge on the structure of emerging organophosphorus compounds (OPCs) hampers our comprehensive understanding their environmental occurrence and potential risks. Through suspect nontarget screening, combining data-dependent acquisition, data-independent parallel reaction monitoring modes, we identified 60 OPCs (17 traditional 43 compounds) in effluents 14 wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs) Beijing Qinghai, China. These comprise 26 organophosphate triesters, 17 diesters, 6 organophosphonates, 7 organothiophosphate esters, 4 other OPCs. Notably, were newly WWTP effluents, 16 discovered matrices. Specifically, cyclic phosphonate, (5-ethyl-2-methyl-1,3,2-dioxaphosphorinan-5-yl)methyl dimethyl phosphonate P-oxide (PMMMPn), consistently appeared all with semiquantitative concentrations ranging from 44.4 to 282 ng/L. Its analogue, di-PMMMPn, presented 93% samples. Compositional differences between two cities mainly attributed Hazard ecological risk assessment underscored substantial contribution chlorinated esters overall risks effluents. This study provides most OPC profiles date, highlighting need for further research occurrence, fate, risks, particularly

In Canada, every day, contaminants of emerging concern (CEC) are discharged from waste treatment facilities into freshwaters. CECs such as pharmaceutical active compounds (PhACs), personal care products (PCPs), per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), microplastics legally sewage plants (STPs), water reclamation (WRPs), hospital wastewater (HWWTPs), or other forms (WWTFs). 2006, the Government Canada established Chemicals Management Plan (CMP) to classify chemicals based on a risk-priority assessment, which ranked many PhACs being low urgency, therefore permitting these continue released environment at unmonitored rates. The problem with ranking priority is that CMP's risk management assessment overlooks long-term environmental synergistic effects PhAC accumulation, antibiotic CEC accumulation in spread resistance genes. goal this review specifically investigate associated risks human health, well determine whether appropriate legislative strategies place within Canada's governance framework. research, secondary data levels Canadian international wastewaters, their potential promote antibiotic-resistant residues, short- risks, were all considered. Unlike similar past reviews, employed an interdisciplinary approach propose new perspectives science, engineering, law.

Residual antimicrobial agents in wastewater and solid waste from manufacturing facilities can potentially contaminate environments. The World Health Organization has established technical guidelines for managing resistance (AMR) pharmaceutical waste. However, the scarcity of publicly available data on processes impedes development effective mitigation strategies. To address this knowledge gap, we developed a comprehensive database documenting antibiotics antibiotic genes (ARGs) actual samples, primarily fermentation residues. Through systematic review methodology, compiled extensive searches English-language article databases, including Web Science PubMed. contains 270 distinct samples collected across 45 residue treatment systems 46 systems, derived 70 published articles spanning 2008 to 2024. In operational facilities, concentrations ranged 82 1,663 mg/L raw 1,000 10,182 mg/kg dry matter (DM) Various technologies demonstrated significant reductions both ARG levels within wastes. This provides first global perspective contamination production processes, supporting AMR management initiatives. It establishes dynamic, continuously updated platform accessible researchers industry stakeholders via link: https://dash.drwater.net/antiboard/.
