Recently, partial denitrification (PDN) - anaerobic ammonium oxidation (anammox) process has been widely studied in activated sludge for nitrate wastewater treatment. However, achieving PDN-Anammox biofilter domestic treatment was never reported. In this study, two lab-scale PDN and Anammox were built up to treat simulated wastewater. The results showed that stable nitrogen removal performance kept with averaged effluent of 10.2 mg/L. Stable nitrite accumulation achieved low abundance reductase gene, while influent composition influenced transformation pathway biofilter. When treating wastewater, nitrification led the higher ratio 75.4%. percentage contribution anammox 74.6% removal, Candidatus Brocadia dominant genus. After long-term operation, limited substrate concentration caused interspecific competition among various bacteria, leading an increasing proportion fulgida. is a feasible advanced treatment, which could save aeration consumption carbon source addition, reduce production.

Starting up or recovering partial nitritation is a major challenge for achieving maintaining stable nitritation/anammox (PN/A) during mainstream wastewater treatment. This study presents novel strategy the nitrite pathway by selectively reviving ammonium oxidizing bacteria (AOB) after thoroughly inhibiting AOB and (NOB) using free nitrous acid (FNA). A sequencing batch reactor was operated PN/A to treat real domestic 423 days, which twice FNA treatment temporarily implemented. Results showed that with single 0.45 mg/L on flocculent sludge, NO3--N concentration aerobic period an uptrend again performance deteriorated. In contrast, 1.35 induced inhibition of both NOB leading regressive oxidation, but subsequently higher DO (1.5 mg/L) longer aeration duration recovered nitritation. For relative abundances acquired biomass related nitrogen conversion, Nitrosomonas, Nitrospira Nitrolancea increased 9.65%, 10.27% 4.35%, respectively, at beginning treatment, decreased 2.80% 0.03% whereas Nitrosomonas declined 8.71% 76 days. Ca. Brocadia less resilience abundance decreasing from 13.38% 0.62% due insufficient nitrite. Molecular ecological network analysis indicates among anammox taxa, Kuenenia formed important links other N cycle processes. Moreover, proposed shows operational flexibility because it can be easily used control in applications offered sludge systems.
