The distribution and abundance of microplastics into the world are so extensive that many scientists use them as key indicators recent contemporary period defining a new historical epoch: Plasticene. Abstract In recent years, marine, freshwater and terrestrial pollution with microplastics has been discussed extensively, whereas atmospheric microplastic transport largely overlooked. Here, we present global simulations of particles produced by road traffic (TWPs – tire wear BWPs brake particles), a major source that can be quantified relatively well.
