Edible mushrooms, the fruiting bodies of fungi, are emerging as promising functional feed additives in poultry nutrition, offering a sustainable alternative to synthetic growth promoters. Rich bioactive compounds such β-glucans, glycoproteins, polyphenols, terpenoids, and antioxidants, mushrooms exhibit immunomodulatory, antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidative properties. These support enhanced immune function, metabolic regulation, oxidative stress reduction, disease resistance poultry. Mushroom species like Pleurotus ostreatus, Agaricus bisporus, Flammulina velutipes have demonstrated improvements rate, conversion ratio (FCR), carcass traits, meat quality, egg production. Importantly, mushroom stems, often discarded waste, gaining attention for their nutritional value, making them cost-effective eco-friendly resource. Medicinal Lentinula edodes, Ganoderma lucidum, Trametes versicolor further enhance antioxidant defense gut microbial balance. This review synthesizes current evidence on application stems diets, emphasizing roles, physiological impacts, underlying mechanisms. Moreover, it discusses relevance promoting production by reducing antibiotic use valorizing agricultural by-products. Future research should aim standardize selection, dosage levels, feeding durations while assessing long-term safety economic feasibility. Unlocking full potential could transform nutrition toward more resilient environmentally responsible model.

(1→3)-α-d-Glucan is an important component of the cell wall most fungi. The polymer has many applications, including as a therapeutic agent in prevention or treatment various diseases, well heavy metal sorbent and new materials used plastics industry. presence (1→3)-α-d-glucan (water-insoluble, alkali-soluble polysaccharide) Pleurotus djamor (pink oyster mushroom) was confirmed using specific fluorophore-labeled antibodies. Therefore, water-insoluble fraction (WI-ASF) P. B123 fruiting bodies isolated by alkaline extraction for further analyses. structural features WI-ASF were determined composition analysis, linkage Fourier transform infrared Raman spectroscopy, 1H 13C nuclear magnetic resonance scanning electron microscopy, viscosity, rotation, gel permeation chromatography. These studies revealed glucose units linked α-glycosidic bonds scanty amounts mannose xylose. Furthermore, methylation analysis demonstrated that (1→3)-linked glucopyranose (Glcp) primary moiety (86.4%) polymer, while 3,4- 3,6-substituted hexoses are branching residues glucan. results chemical spectroscopic investigations indicated analyzed α-d-glucan type with molecular weight 552 kDa.
