Microplastics threaten soil ecosystems, strongly influencing carbon (C) and nitrogen (N) contents. Interactions between microplastic properties climatic edaphic factors are poorly understood. We conducted a meta-analysis to assess the interactive effects of (type, shape, size, content), native (texture, pH, dissolved organic (DOC)) (precipitation temperature) on C N contents in soil. found that low-density polyethylene reduced total (TN) content, whereas biodegradable polylactic acid led decrease (SOC). Microplastic fragments especially depleted TN, reducing aggregate stability, increasing N-mineralization leaching, consequently C/N ratio. size affected outcomes; those <200 μm both TN SOC Mineralization-induced nutrient losses were greatest at 1 2.5% weight. Sandy soils suffered highest contamination-induced depletion. Alkaline showed depletion, suggesting high degradability. In low-DOC soils, contamination caused 2-fold greater depletion than with DOC. Abstract Microplastics (MPs) as emerging contaminants have a global occurrence, including both terrestrial and marine ecosystems. Soil enzymes contribute to maintaining ecosystem multifunctionality, for example, nutrient cycling, organic material decomposition, carbon climate regulation. Our present review highlights the impacts of MPs on soil enzyme activities, influencing factors, underlying mechanisms. Increasing findings confirm that can change activities range involved in biogeochemical cycling C N. However, current results are highly controversial. The effects vary from significant nonsignificant dependent polymer type, biodegradability, dosage, size, shape, aging degree MPs, exposure conditions. The potential impacts of biodegradable and nonbiodegradable microplastics (MPs) on rhizosphere microbial nitrogen (N) transformation processes remain ambiguous. Here, we systematically investigated how (polybutylene succinate, PBS) MPs (polyethylene, PE) affect N by determining soil indicators typical Glycine max (soybean)-soil (i.e., red brown soils) systems. Our results show that altered pH dissolved organic carbon in MP/soil type-dependent manners. Notably, soybean growth displayed greater sensitivity to 1% (w/w) PBS MP exposure than since acidified the impeded nutrient uptake plants. In rhizosphere, negatively impacted community composition diversity, weakened (mainly denitrification ammonification), disrupted metabolism. Continuous cropping has emerged as a significant challenge affecting yield and quality in greenhouse strawberries, particularly the cultivation of strawberries protected crop continues to increase. To address this issue, substrates with 0 or 2 years continuous were fertilized two types organic materials: vermicompost derived from either sludge cattle manure. A control group consisted substrate without addition vermicompost. Both type improved fertility, promoted plant growth fruit quality. The manure had better improvement effect at peak fruiting stage. Substrate nutrients increased 14.58~38.52% (0-year substrate) 12.04%~42.54% (2-year substrate), respectively. In both types, there was substantial increase microbial population enzyme activity, accompanied by decrease phenolic acid content. Aqueous colloids with a high concentration of nanoparticles and free steric stabilizers are prospective soft materials, the engineering which is still challenging. Herein, we prepared superparamagnetic very large, up to 1350 g/L 11 nm via Fe2+ Fe3+ coprecipitation, water washing, purification using cation-exchange resin, stabilization monolayer citrate anions (ζ potential diluted dispersions about -35 mV). XRD, XPS, Mössbauer, FTIR spectra elucidated defective reverse spinel structure magnetite/maghemite (Fe3O4/γ-Fe2O3) reduced content cations. The viscosity increases nanoparticle depends also on nature salt, being one order magnitude lower for lithium than sodium potassium as counter-cation. SAXS/USAXS curves show power-law behavior in scattering vector range between 0.1 0.002 nm-1, suggesting that particles interact forming fractal clusters, looser Na+- denser Li+-citrate (fractal dimensions 1.9 2.4, respectively). In parallel, ATR-FTIR found increasing proportions symmetric O-H stretching vibrations ice-like interfacial concentrated colloids. We hypothesize clusters arise due attraction like-charge possibly involving shells hydration counter-cations; overlapping transition continuous non-Newtonian phases seen at vs plots 700-900 g/L. results shed new light nanocolloids pave way their manufacturing tailoring.

Mushroom production using agroforestry biowaste is a great green cycling agriculture alternative. Therefore, the current study explored Livestock-Crop-Mushroom (LCM) circular model, starting with co-composting of straw and cow manure as a'St' biofertilizer further used for mushroom cultivation that ultimately produced a'StM' biofertilizer. The two biofertilizers were tested their impacts on plant growth potential microbial risks. results show significant oats stimulated by biofertiliser use. Both'St' and'StM' increased biomass, while latter, crude protein content (+5.1%) root biomass also higher. Reduced abundances resistome genes (30%) pathogens (25%) observed during oat growth. Further, metagenomics analysis indicated reduction in antibiotic-resistance -20% soils treated by'St' -46% in'StM' treatment. The'StM' had three-fold stronger inhibitory effect rhizosphere soil than'St'. Moreover, compared to'St','StM' suppressed seeds stems, specific beneficial biomarker microbes different parts. Overall, antibiotic resistance gene related to oxytetracycline decreased more than LCM system. This demonstrates substantial scalability system within agricultural domain.
