Food quality and safety problems caused by inefficient control in the food chain have significant implications for human health, social stability, economic progress optical sensor arrays (OSAs) can effectively address these challenges. This review aims to summarize recent applications of nanomaterials-based OSA visual monitoring, including colourimetric array (CSA) fluorescent (FSA). First, fundamental properties various advanced nanomaterials, mainly metal nanoparticles (MNPs) nanoclusters (MNCs), quantum dots (QDs), upconversion (UCNPs), others, were described. Besides, diverse machine learning (ML) deep (DL) methods high-dimensional data obtained from responses between different sensing elements analytes presented. Moreover, representative pesticide residues, heavy ions, bacterial contamination, antioxidants, flavor matters, freshness detection comprehensively summarized. Finally, challenges future perspectives OSAs are discussed. It is believed that with advancements artificial intelligence (AI) techniques integrated technology, expected be an intelligent, effective, rapid tool assessment control.
