Designations of forests take hold in policy definitions, land use practices, community initiatives, scientific research, and entrepreneurial endeavors. These multiple form as distinct often competing realities enacted through environmental knowledges, cosmologies. “The Forest Multiple” special issue explores the question “what is a forest” to examine diverse ways that materialize are operationalized time planetary upheaval. With ongoing deforestation degradation, together with calls for restoration replanting, positioned key ecosystems addressing climate change biodiversity collapse. Technologies, especially digital tools, central forest conservation projects, further entrenching logics datafication, optimization, efficiency typically oriented toward market objectives, which can collide diversely inhabited forests. In this sense, conserved, cultivated, expanded vary composition, purpose, interconnections, social–cultural value. The increasing importance of forest ecosystems for human society and planetary health is widely recognized, the advancement data collection technologies enables new integrated ways monitoring. Therefore, target this paper to propose a framework design digital twin (FDT) that, by integrating different state variables at both tree levels, creates virtual copy forest. integration these sets could be used scientific purposes, reporting status forests, ultimately implementing sustainable management practices on basis use cases that specific implementation would underpin. Achieving such outcomes requires twinning single trees as core element FDT recording physical biotic near environment via real–virtual sockets. Following nested approach, twinned related physiological processes are then part broader entire realized capturing scale from sources remote sensing flux towers. Soundscape ecology is a promising area that studies landscape patterns based on their acoustic composition. It focuses the distribution of biotic and abiotic sounds at different frequencies attribute relationship said with ecosystem health metrics indicators (e.g., species richness, biodiversity, vectors structural change, gradients vegetation cover, connectivity, temporal spatial characteristics). To conduct such studies, researchers analyze recordings from Acoustic Recording Units (ARUs). The increasing use ARUs capacity to record hours audio for months time have created need automatic processing methods reduce consumption, correlate variables implicit in recordings, extract features, characterize sound related attributes. A transdisciplinary group of researchers and practitioners conclude that urban ecology as science can better contribute to positive futures focusing on relationships, rather than prioritizing structures. Insights other relational disciplines, such political ecology, governance, design, conservation also contribute. Relationality is especially powerful given the need rapidly adapt changing social biophysical drivers global systems. These unprecedented dynamics are understood through lens traditional structural questions. We use three kinds coproduction—of social-ecological world, science, actionable knowledge—to identify key processes coproduction within places. Connectivity crucial ecology. We investigate how digital platforms specifically reconfigure practices, resources, and policy across scales. By analyzing platforms, we identify four drivers of technological developments, including: scientific expertise to optimize decisions; capacity building through networks; tree-planting markets operate supply chains; community participation foster co-creation. Our analysis shows developments transform by producing techniques, remaking networks, creating markets, reorganizing participation. Limitations with benchmark light detection and ranging (LiDAR) technologies in forestry have prompted the exploration of handheld or wearable low-cost 3D sensors (<2000 USD). These are now being integrated into consumer devices, such as Apple iPad Pro 2020. This study was aimed at determining future research recommendations to promote adoption terrestrial within forest measurement tasks. We reviewed current literature surrounding application remote sensing (RS) technologies. also surveyed professionals determine what inventory metrics were considered important and/or difficult capture using conventional methods.
