Despite growing focus on adjustment outcomes following disability, this construct received little attention in the rehabilitation literature. The primary aim study was examine extent which SOC social identification with one’s town contribute life satisfaction among adults brain injury, controlling demographic, other related constructs (e.g., support integration). Members from injury associations across United States ( N = 177) participated survey-based study. Results hierarchical regression analysis indicated that final model accounted 45% variance satisfaction, variables contributing 11%. Symptom severity, perceived emotional support, dimension reinforcement needs were significant independent predictors satisfaction. Findings highlight importance examining clients enhance subjective well-being.

Although the negative impact of symptom severity on subjective well-being outcomes has been established among individuals with brain injury, mediating and protective role that positive human traits might have this relationship not adequately explored. The purpose study was to examine social self-efficacy disability acceptance between life satisfaction injury.Hierarchical regression analysis correlation techniques were used test a hypothesized dual-mediation model in sample 105 adults acquired injury. Results indicated fully mediated satisfaction, lending support for being strongest contributor. These findings suggest there may be considerable value rehabilitation providers develop strengths-based service strategies and/or specialized intervention programs focus capitalizing these promote clients injury. Implications clinical practice future research direction are also discussed.

Abstract Chronic posttraumatic headache (PTH) is among the most common and disabling sequelae of traumatic brain injury (TBI). Current PTH treatments are often only partially effective have problematic side effects. We previously showed in a small randomized trial patients with chronic nontraumatic headaches that manipulation dietary fatty acids decreased frequency, severity, pain medication use. Pain reduction was associated alterations oxylipins derived from n-3 n-6 acids, suggesting could potentially mediate clinical reduction. The objective this study to investigate whether circulating measured acute setting after TBI serve as prognostic biomarkers for developing PTH. Participants enrolled Traumatic Head Injury Neuroimaging Classification Protocol provided serum within 3 days were followed up at 90 postinjury neurobehavioral symptom inventory (NSI) satisfaction life survey. Liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry methods profiled 39 docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), arachidonic linoleic acid. Statistical analyses assessed association severity (primary outcome, by question on NSI) well associations between total NSI or survey scores. Among oxylipins, 4-hydroxy-DHA 19,20-epoxy-docosapentaenoate (DHA derivatives) inversely 11-hydroxy-9-epoxy-octadecenoate (a derivative) positively severity. These findings support potential DHA-derived development

The aim of the present study was to evaluate unique associations between self-report history mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI) and posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms on functional outcomes years after head injury. National Guard personnel (n = 608) from mountain west who denied 342, 56.3%) with mTBI 266, 43.7%) were included in analyses. Participants completed measures emotional (i.e., depression, PTSD symptoms), social relationship satisfaction perceived support), other general concentration difficulties sleep disturbance) functioning through an online survey. explained variance emotional, social, above beyond mTBI. After controlling for symptoms, not associated current depression satisfaction, support, concentration, or difficulties. Self-report account impairments often attributed labeled postconcussive syndrome. Symptoms described as syndrome patients may be better a psychological standpoint. Patients persistent complaints should screened mental health conditions. If concerns are present, treatment that indicated.
