The 'matrixome' is the inventory of currently known biomolecules (polysaccharides, nucleic acids, proteins, lipids, and lipoproteins) their molecular, structural, functional diversity associated with biofilm assembly, its physicochemical virulence attributes. The structural biochemical properties matrixome provide emergent biofilms, including surface adhesion, spatial chemical heterogeneities, synergistic/competitive polymicrobial interactions, antimicrobial recalcitrance, virulence.Combinatorial treatment strategies are crucial to eradicate biofilms by targeting functionally structurally complex extracellular polymeric matrix embedded microbial cells.Due limited knowledge EPS there an urgent need for more experimental in vivo mechanistic studies. Biofilms consist communities a 3D matrix. composed array substances (EPS) that contribute unique attributes lifestyle virulence. This ensemble chemically diverse termed 'matrixome'. composition mechanisms formation, role biology, function, microenvironment being revealed. perspective article highlights recent advances about multifaceted development, physical–chemical properties, biofilms. We emphasize biofilm-specific conditions such as could lead precise effective antibiofilm approaches. also discuss context in-depth analyses mixed many human infectious diseases.

Abstract Microbial colonization on material surfaces is ubiquitous. Biofilms derived from surface‐colonized microbes pose serious problems to the society both an economical perspective and a health concern. Incorporation of antimicrobial nanocompounds within or surface materials, by coatings, prevent microbial adhesion kill microorganisms after their attachment biofilms, represents important strategy in increasingly challenging field. Over last decade, many studies have been devoted preparing meta‐based nanomaterials that possess antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal activities combat pathogen‐related diseases. Herein, overview state‐of‐the‐art nanosized metal‐based compounds provided, including metal oxide nanoparticles as well transition nanosheets. The mechanism these nanostructures biomedical applications such catheters, implants, medical delivery systems, tissue engineering, dentistry are discussed. Their properties potential caveats cytotoxicity, diminishing efficacy, induction resistance materials incorporating reviewed provide backdrop for future research.

Novel plasma-based technologies that offer maximum efficiency at minimal environmental costs are expected to further promote the sustainable societal and economic development. Unique transfer of chemical reactivity energy from gaseous plasmas water takes place in absence any other chemicals, but results a product with notable transient broad-spectrum biological activity, referred as plasma-activated (PAW). These features make PAW green prospective solution for wide range biotechnology applications, purification biomedicine. Here, we present succinct review how novel, efficient methods based on non-equilibrium reactive plasma chemistries can be applied low-cost natural sources produce applications while same time minimising process steps dramatically reducing use expensive and/or hazardous reagents. Despite recent exciting developments this field, there presently is no topical which specifically focuses underlying physics chemistry related water. We focus generation, origin species PAW, its analytical potentially different mechanisms regulate bio-activities biotech-applications their roles determining efficacy selectivity. then advances our understanding plasma-water interactions, briefly outlining current proposed agriculture, food Finally, outline future research directions challenges may hinder translation these into real-life applications. Overall, will provide much needed insights fundamental aspects required optimization biochemical activity environment- human-health-friendly, energy-efficient strategy real life
