Osteoporosis and bone fractures affect health quality of life. Since disease is multifactorial, identifying risk factors key in prevention. There are multiple reports on how viral hepatitis, especially chronic hepatitis B (CHB) C (CHC), affecting disease, but results vary. Here, we analyzed the potential association between CHB/CHC osteoporosis or a large outpatient cohort Germany.

In the biomedical field, differentiation between sex and gender is crucial for enhancing understanding of human health personalizing medical treatments, particularly within domain orthopedics. This distinction, often overlooked or misunderstood, vital dissecting treating musculoskeletal conditions effectively. review delves into sex- gender-specific physiology bones, cartilage, ligaments, tendons, highlighting how hormonal differences impact system’s structure function, exploring physiopathology orthopedic from an epidemiological, molecular, clinical perspective, shedding light on discrepancies in disease manifestation across sexes. Examples such as higher rates deformities (adolescent idiopathic adult degenerative scoliosis hallux valgus) females osteoporosis postmenopausal women illustrate critical role health. Additionally, addresses morbidity–mortality paradox, where women, despite appearing less healthy frailty indexes, show lower mortality rates, complex interplay biological social determinants Injuries chronic osteoarthritis exhibit gender- sex-specific prevalence progression patterns, necessitating a nuanced approach to treatment that considers these optimize outcomes. Moreover, underscores importance recognizing unique needs sexual minority gender-diverse individuals care, emphasizing gender-affirming hormone therapy aspects like bone perioperative risks. To foster advancements orthopedics, we advocate strategic disaggregation data by inclusion “Sexual Orientation Gender Identity” (SOGI) research practice. Such measures can enrich insights, ensure tailored patient promote inclusivity ultimately precision effectiveness care diverse populations. Integrating considerations practice paramount addressing varied patients. By embracing this comprehensive approach, medicine move towards more personalized, effective, inclusive strategies, thereby improving outcomes advancing field.

Abstract This study assessed the novel concept that osteoclast-derived Grem1 has regulatory functions in skeletal response to calcium stress using an osteoclastic conditional knockout (cKO) mouse model. The was initiated by feeding cKO mutants and wildtype (WT) littermates a calcium-deficient diet for 2 weeks. Deletion of mature osteoclasts did not affect developmental bone growth nor basal turnover. In depletion, male showed greater increases resorption trabecular loss than WT littermates, indicating enhanced sensitivity depletion mutants. sex-dependent, as female lower well sex disparity intrinsic since but vitro activity respective sex. Male displayed smaller formation while bigger also response. caused differences osteoblasts might be due sex-dependent differential release osteogenic factors. summary, gremlin-1 complicated roles stress.

Abstract Purpose Previous research shows conflicting views on the relationship between obesity and osteoporosis, partly due to variations in classification nonlinear nature of these relationships. This study investigated association adiposity indices diagnosed using dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA), employing models offering optimal thresholds prevent further bone mineral density decline. Methods In 2019, a prospective enrolled males over 50 years postmenopausal women. Anthropometric measurements, blood biochemistry, osteoporosis measured by DXA were collected. Associations analyzed generalized additive model segmented regression model. Results The included 872 women 1321 men. Indices such as abdominal volume index (AVI), visceral (VAI), waist circumference (WC), hip circumference, body mass (BMI), waist-to-hip ratio, waist-to-height ratio (WHtR) inversely associated with osteoporosis. women, risk was U-shaped, WC = 94 cm, AVI 17.67 cm 2 , BMI 25.74 kg/m VAI 4.29, WHtR 0.61, considering changes density. Conversely, men exhibited linear patterns for inverse association. Conclusion impact varies significantly is (U-shaped), both very low high linked higher risk. 50, linear, lower suggests that maintaining specific levels could help

Neuropsychiatric disorders shorten human life spans through multiple ways and become major threats to health. Exercise can regulate the estrogen signaling, which may be involved in depression, Alzheimer's disease (AD) Parkinson's (PD), other neuropsychiatric as well their sex differences. In nervous system, is an important regulator of cell development, synaptic brain connectivity. Therefore, this review aimed investigate potential system exercise intervention better understand its specific. exert a protective effect regulating expression receptors, are neuroprotection, neurodevelopment, neuronal glucose homeostasis. These processes mediated by downstream factors including N-myc regulatory gene 2 (Ndrg2), serotonin (5-HT), delta like canonical Notch ligand 1 (DLL1), NOD-like receptor thermal protein domain associated 3 (NLRP3), etc. addition, act on response element (ERE) fragment genes estrogenic β-amyloid precursor cleavase (BACE1). However, there few studies relationship between exercise, signaling pathway, disorders. Hence, we how mediates mechanism We aim provide theoretical perspective for affecting female health support design prescriptions.

Abstract Effective treatment of bone diseases is quite tricky due to the unique nature tissue and complexity repair process. In combination with biological materials, cells factors can provide a highly effective safe strategy for regeneration, especially based on these multifunctional hydrogel interface materials. However, itis still challenge formulate materials fascinating properties (e.g., activity, controllable biodegradability, mechanical strength, excellent cell/tissue adhesion, release properties) their clinical applications in complex processes. this review, we will highlight recent advances developing functional hydrogels. We then discuss barriers producing without sacrificing inherent properties, potential cartilage are discussed. Multifunctional serve as fundamental building block engineering.

Background/Objectives: Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) has been associated with negative effects on bone health, potentially leading to reduced mass, altered geometry, and impaired mechanical strength. However, the extent of these changes possible pharmacological interventions remains unclear. This study aimed assess impact PTSD properties evaluate therapeutic potential CE-123 in mitigating PTSD-induced skeletal deterioration. Additionally, we examined healthy determine its broader influence integrity growth. Methods: We conducted an experiment using female Wistar rats divided into four groups: Control, PTSD, Control+CE-123, PTSD+CE-123. was induced a validated paradigm, administered properties. Morphometric, densitometric, parameters tibia femur were analyzed, along growth plate measurements development. Results: led significant reductions mineral density, properties, particularly cortical thickness relative weight, suggesting increased fragility. treatment PTSD-exposed prevented some adverse but did not fully restore integrity.
