Covid-19 disease is well documented and often the most common symptoms include myalgia muscle fatigue. Approximately 10% of those infected complain persistent fatigue even many months after end acute phase disease. This gives rise to a condition different from previous one commonly known as 'post-acute COVID-19 syndrome' or simply Long-COVID. Although origin multifactorial, state prolonged observed in Long-COVID syndrome suggests existence possible atrophy rather sarcopenia. Under these conditions, use physical activity programs can effectively counteract underlying phenomena observed. Viral infections induce major shifts in cellular metabolism elicited by active viral replication and antiviral responses. For the virus, harnessing evading changes that limit are essential for productive replication. In contrast, response to infection disrupts metabolic pathways prevent promote an state host cell neighboring bystander cells. This competition between virus results measurable differ depending on type, extracellular environment. The resulting can be observed analyzed using global profiling techniques identify critical either or defense. SARS-CoV-2 is a respiratory exhibit broad tissue tropism diverse, yet inconsistent, symptomatology. While factors determine presentation severity of remain unclear, syndromes associated with more severe manifestations disease. Despite these observations knowledge gap remains responses infection. Using well-established untargeted metabolomics analysis workflow, we compared human lung carcinoma We identified significant correlate non-productive information characterizing contribute could targeted therapeutic interventions

Background: Orthopedic surgery and the corresponding events (i.e., immobilization muscle disuse) result in a cascade of biological to promote healing but can come with loss skeletal mass strength. A good nutritional status patients is associated positive post-surgical outcomes, macronutrients receiving majority emphasis research literature. However, beyond surgical literature, there are other nutrients supplements that have been established or postulated improve Objective: The purpose this narrative review provide evidence for utility using creatine, vitamin D, omega-3 fatty acids, glutamine, essential amino acids-branched chain acids (EAA-BCAA) beta-hydroxy-beta-methylbutyrate (HMB) supplementation role they may play minimizing atrophy strength following orthopedic surgery. will also highlight areas future support better understanding efficacy supplementing these substances pre- and/or post-surgery.

Abstract Background The duration of severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) RNA positivity will be important to prevent the spread disease 2019 (COVID-19). A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted following PRISMA determine from several parts body clinical characteristics affecting it. Main text PubMed, Web Science, Scopus, CENTRAL searched for original studies reporting COVID-19 onset disappearance viral RNA. Of 1682 identified, 100 met selection criteria 13,431 patients included in this study. SARS-CoV-2 was 18.29 [95% confidence interval: 17.00–19.89] days upper tract samples, 23.79 [20.43–27.16] sputum, 14.60 [12.16–17.05] blood, 22.38 [18.40–26.35] stool. Sensitivity analysis revealed that positively correlated with age, comorbidities, severity, usage glucocorticoid. Subgroup indicated presence or absence complications had greatest impact on difference DSRP. Conclusions samples. sputum stool longer, while blood shorter. samples longer older, any severer, treated These results provide basic data positivity, future, effect vaccination against variants should assessed.

The COVID-19 pandemic poses an ongoing public health challenge, with a focus on older adults. Given the large number of persons who have recovered from and reports long-lasting sequelae, there is reasonable concern that may lead to long-term deterioration in adults, i.e., potential "wave frailty." Therefore, it critical better understand circumstances surrounding development frailty as result COVID-19, well underlying mechanisms factors contributing this development. We conducted narrative review most relevant articles published association between through January 2023. Although few studies date addressed effects onset progression frailty, available data suggest indeed increase elderly COVID-19. Regarding mechanisms, multicausal genesis can be assumed, involving both direct viral indirect effects, particularly imposed lockdowns devastating consequences for elderly: decreased physical activity, altered diet, sarcopenia, fatigue, social isolation, neurological problems, inflammation, cardiovascular morbidity are among possible mediators. Since leading elderly, urgent need raise awareness still little-known problem potentially great importance find appropriate prevention treatment measures.
