This study investigated the presence and characteristics of Juglans neotropica in three ecosystems Southern Ecuador: Montane Evergreen Forest, Seasonal Lower Semideciduous Foot Forest. The main focus was on species' multipurpose nature as both a fruit timber source. Six sites, totaling at least 0.5 hectares each, were established, with four Loja province two Zamora Chinchipe province. The results showed significant differences dendrometric variables across most favorable growth recorded Tundo, where trees exhibited an average diameter breast height (DBH) 45.16 cm, basal area (G) 1.41 m2, total (TH) 19.22 m, canopy (CH) 13 cubic volume (CV) 3.55 m3, (TV) 5.22 m3. species displayed clumped distribution pattern, indicated by Morisita index greater than 1. Regarding abundance, highest density 297 per hectare found Argelia, while Victoria had lowest 46 hectare. research highlights importance species, providing valuable fruits wood resources studied Ecuador.

Intercropping with legume forages is recognized as an effective strategy for enhancing nitrogen levels in agroforestry, while mowing may influence fixation capacity and yield. This study investigated the rooting, fixation, nutritive value, yield of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.) under intercropping varying frequencies (CK, 2, 3) from 2021 to 2023, using walnut (Juglans regia experimental subjects. The results indicated that suppressed root growth, whereas increased frequency stimulated development topsoil (0–20 cm). Specifically, average length density, surface area, volume twice- thrice-mowed treatments by 18.26, 17.45, 4.15%, respectively, comparison control. δ15N values intercropped were significantly lower than those monocropped (p < 0.05), mowing-thrice treatment increasing 38.61% compared but did not affect total content leaves or all resulted land equivalent ratios (LERs) greater 1. Furthermore, enhanced both value alfalfa. Our suggests can improve biological alfalfa, adopting a regime optimize value.

Basic helix-loop-helix (bHLH) proteins are transcription factors (TFs) that have been shown to regulate anthocyanin biosynthesis in many plant species. However, the bHLH gene family walnut ( Juglans regia L.) has not yet reported. In this study, 102 genes were identified genome and classified into 15 subfamilies according sequence similarity phylogenetic relationships. The structure, conserved domains, chromosome location of analyzed by bioinformatic methods. Gene duplication analyses revealed 42 JrbHLHs involved expansion family. We also characterized cis -regulatory elements these performed Ontology enrichment analysis functions, examined protein-protein interactions. Four candidate JrEGL1a , JrEGL1b JrbHLHA1 JrbHLHA2 ) found high homology encoding TFs other plants. RNA sequencing tissue- developmental stage-specific expression profiles distinct patterns phenotype (red vs. green leaves) stage red hybrid progeny, which confirmed quantitative real-time PCR analysis. All four JrbHLH localized nucleus, consistent with a TF function. These results provide basis for functional characterization investigations on molecular mechanisms walnut.

Hickory (Carya cathayensis) is a critical tree species of the genus Carya from Juglandaceae family that contains nutrient-rich nuts. Due to large-scale soil degradation, pests and diseases hickory are becoming more serious. Thaumatin-like proteins (TLPs) vital involved in complex defense process plant pathogens. In this study, 40 CcTLP genes were identified genome-widely phylogenetically grouped into three subfamilies. The sequence CcTLPs had conservative pattern, such as eight stable disulfide bonds, REDDD, G-X-[GF]-X-C-X-T-[GA]-D-C-X(1,2)-G-X-(2,3)-C structure. total, 57 cis-elements related stress-responsive, light-responsive, phytohormone-responsive, plant-responsive discovered. Under salicylate (SA), methyl jasmonate (MeJA), ethephon (ETH) treatments, expressions CcTLP28, CcTLP29, CcTLP30, CcTLP31, CcTLP32, CcTLP33, CcTLP37, CcTLP38, CcTLP39 different patterns. This an indication most TLP upregulated by SA downregulated MeJA. Notably, seven significantly under Botryosphaeria dothidea inoculation, especially with over 20-fold change. Nine shown subcellular localization analysis be located at plasma membrane cytoplasm. knowledge disease-resistant function promoted these results. A foundation reference for molecular breeding future provided our findings.

Carya cathayensis, commonly referred to as Chinese hickory, produces nuts that contain high-quality edible oils, particularly oleic acid (18:1). It is known stearoyl-ACP desaturase (SAD) the first key step converting stearic (C18:0, SA) (C18:1, OA) in aminolevulinic (ALA) biosynthetic pathway and play an important role OA accumulation. Thus far, there little information about SAD gene family C. cathayensis of individual members This study searched Hickory Genome Database identified five genes, designated CcSADs, at whole genome level through comparison with homologous genes from Arabidopsis. RNA-Seq analysis showed CcSSI2-1, CcSSI2-2, CcSAD6 were highly expressed kernels. The expression pattern CcSADs was significantly correlated fatty accumulation during kernel development. In addition, full-length cDNAs encoding SADs isolated developing cathayensis. CcSADs-green fluorescent protein (GFP) fusion construct infiltrated into tobacco epidermal cells, results indicated their chloroplast localization. catalytic function these further analyzed by heterologous Saccharomyces cerevisiae, Nicotiana benthamiana, walnut. Functional demonstrated all had activity catalyze biosynthesis. Some also have strong substrate specificity for 16:0-ACP synthesize palmitoleic (C16:1, PA). Our documented accumulation, which could be future improvement content this species via genetic manipulation.
