Background: Nutritional status’s role in long COVID is evident the general population, yet unexplored patients undergoing hemodialysis (HD), posing a research gap. We hypothesized that pre-infection undernutrition HD might impact persistence by accelerating oxidative stress. The present study aimed to investigate association between nutritional status, stress, and one-year-long patients. Methods: This prospective observational cohort enrolled 115 with confirmed COVID-19. status was assessed using Controlling Status (CONUT) score twice: before infection three months post-infection. Oxidative markers included malondialdehyde (MDAs), ceruloplasmin, transferrin, sulfhydryl groups. endpoint persistence. Results: Moderate CONUT scores were associated heightened severe risk (p < 0.0001), elevated MDAs reduced ceruloplasmin levels = 0.0009) at post-COVID-19 compared light scores. Pre-infection independently predicted post-COVID damage [OR 2.3 (95% CI 1.2; 4.6), p 0.0001] [HR 4.6 1.4; 9.9), 0.0001], even after adjusting for potential confounders. The COVID-19 pandemic, instigated by the emergence of novel coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2, created an incomparable global health crisis. Due to its highly virulent nature, identifying potential therapeutic agents against this lethal virus is crucial. PLpro a key protein involved in viral polyprotein processing and immune system evasion, making it prime target for development antiviral drugs combat COVID-19. To expedite search candidates, review delved into computational studies. Recent investigations have harnessed methods identify promising inhibitors targeting PLpro, aiming suppress activity. Molecular docking techniques were employed researchers explore binding sites within catalytic region PLpro. elucidates functional structural properties SARS-CoV-2 underscoring significance pathogenicity replication. Through comprehensive all-atom molecular dynamics (MD) simulations, stability drug–PLpro complexes was assessed, providing dynamic insights their interactions. By evaluating energy estimates from MD stable with identified. This offers overview drug/lead candidates discovered thus far using diverse silico methodologies, encompassing drug repurposing, structure-based, ligand-based virtual screenings. Additionally, identified are listed based on chemical structures meticulously examined according various parameters, such as estimated free (ΔG), types intermolecular interactions, PLpro–ligand complexes, determined outcomes simulations. Underscoring pivotal role battle COVID-19, establishes robust foundation integrating modeling, insights. continual imperative improvement existing exploring compounds remains paramount efforts evolution management hinge symbiotic relationship between experimental validation, interdisciplinary synergy crucial endeavor.

Background: There are still discrepancies in the literature as to whether COVID-19 infection could impact biochemical, anthropometric, and cardiovascular markers. The purpose of this study was firstly observe effects over 12 months on Type 2 diabetes (T2D) obesity. Secondarily, we analyzed individual influence changes Methods: This is part a secondary analysis recently published article. research involved 84 participants with T2D, divided into two groups: control group (40 participants) received only medical care, while intervention (44 both care nutritional assessment. Consultations were held quarterly months, follow-up after 3 months. Data Analysis: For analysis, non-normal variables compared using Mann–Whitney test, normal unpaired t-tests. all cases, α = 0.05 p < considered significant. Results: revealed high percentage patients groups who had (70% 72.7% intervention) Regarding infected showed smaller reductions glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c) (p 0.0120) systolic blood pressure (SBP) 0.0460). other markers, groups, no significant differences found > 0.05). Conclusion: possibly influenced SBP HbA1c levels people T2D However, caution should be exercised generalizing these results due limitations study.
