Simplicial complexes describe the simple fact that in social networks a link can connect more than two individuals. As we show here, this has far-reaching consequences for epidemic spreading, particular context of multilayer network model, where one layer is virtual and other physical contact network. The responsible transmission information via pairwise or higher order 2-simplex interactions among individuals, while spreading. We use microscopic Markov chain approach to derive probability transition equations determine outbreak thresholds. further support these results with Monte Carlo simulations, which are good agreement, thus confirming analytical tractability proposed model. find rates frequently low when actual disease medium, be mitigated effectively by introducing relative ease higher-order means could exploited inhibit outbreaks.

Human society and natural environment form a complex giant ecosystem, where human activities not only lead to the change in environmental states, but also react them. By using collective-risk social dilemma game, some studies have already revealed that individual contributions risk of future losses are inextricably linked. These works, however, often use an idealistic assumption is constant affected by behaviors. Here, we develop coevolutionary game approach captures coupled dynamics cooperation risk. In particular, level population affects state risk, while turn influences individuals' behavioral decision-making. Importantly, explore two representative feedback forms describing possible effect strategy on namely, linear exponential feedbacks. We find can be maintained keeping at certain fraction or forming evolutionary oscillation with independently type. However, such outcome depends initial state. Taken together, two-way coupling between collective actions essential avoid tragedy commons. More importantly, critical starting portion cooperators what really need for guiding evolution toward desired direction.

The application of incentives, such as reward and punishment, is a frequently applied way for promoting cooperation among interacting individuals in structured populations. However, how to properly use the incentives still challenging problem incentive-providing institutions. In particular, since implementation incentive costly, explore optimal protocol, which ensures desired collective goal at minimal cost, worthy study. this work, we consider positive negative population whose conflicting interactions are characterized by Prisoner's Dilemma game. We establish an index function quantifying cumulative cost during process implementation, theoretically derive protocols on regular networks. find that both types identical time-invariant. Moreover, compare rewarding punishing schemes concerning provide rigorous basis usage game-theoretical framework. further perform computer simulations support our theoretical results their robustness different structures, including regular, random, small-world scale-free

Abstract Multiplayer games on graphs are at the heart of theoretical descriptions key evolutionary processes that govern vital social and natural systems. However, a comprehensive framework for solving multiplayer with an arbitrary number strategies is still missing. Here, we solve this by drawing analogy Balls-and-Boxes problem, based which show local configuration equivalent to distributing k identical co-players among n distinct strategies. We use derive replicator equation any -strategy game under weak selection, can be solved in polynomial time. As example, revisit second-order free-riding where costly punishment cannot truly resolve dilemmas well-mixed population. Yet, structured populations, accurate threshold strength, beyond either lead extinction defection or transform system into rock-paper-scissors-like cycle. The analytical solution also qualitatively agrees phase diagrams were previously obtained non-marginal selection strengths. Our thus allows exploration multi-strategy regular graphs.

The concept of fitness is central to evolution, but it quantifies only the expected number offspring an individual will produce. actual also subject demographic stochasticity-that is, randomness associated with birth and death processes. In nature, individuals who are more fecund tend have greater variance in their number. Here, we develop a model for evolution two types competing population nonconstant size. each type determined by pairwise interactions prisoner's dilemma game, depends upon its mean. Although defectors preferred natural selection classical models, since they always than cooperators, show that sufficiently large can reverse direction favor cooperation. Large produces qualitatively new dynamics other social interactions, as well, which cannot arise populations fixed size or Poisson distribution.

Abstract Cooperative behavior in multi-agent systems has been a focal point of research, particularly the context pairwise interaction games. While previous studies have successfully used reinforcement learning rules to explain and predict agents two-agent interactions, interactions are more complex, impact reward mechanisms on agent is often overlooked. To address this gap, we propose framework that combines public goods game (PGG) with adaptive better capture decision-making interactions. In that, PGG adopted reflect self-regarding Q -learning emphasizes an experience-based strategy update, focuses adaptability. We mainly concentrating synergistic effects them. The simulations demonstrate while fails prevent collapse cooperation traditional PGG, fraction increases significantly when included. Meanwhile, theoretical analyses aligned our simulation results, which revealed there specific cost required maximize cooperation. Overall, study provides novel perspective establishing cooperative social dilemmas highlights importance considering

Complementing internalizing and externalizing developmental outcomes of parental psychological control, in this study, we shift the focus to children’s prosocial behaviors. Drawing on self-determination theory problem-behavior theory, study addresses relationship between social anxiety, socioeconomic status (SES), behavior. The control scale, anxiety scale for children, behavior were applied study. Participants 1202 elementary school-age children China. present showed that was negatively associated with played a partial mediating role Meanwhile, SES moderated effect more significant among students low levels than higher ones. findings parenting plays an essential development prosociality.
