How do collective events shape how we remember our lives? We leveraged advances in natural language processing as well a rich, longitudinal assessment of 1,000 Americans throughout 2020 to examine memory is influenced by two prominent factors: surprise and emotion. Autobiographical for displayed unique signature: There was substantial bump March, aligning with pandemic onset lockdowns, consistent across three collections 1 y apart. further investigated emotion, using both immediate retrieved measures, predicted the amount content autobiographical memory: Negative affect increased recall all whereas its more clinical indices, depression posttraumatic stress disorder, selectively nonepisodic recall. Finally, separate cohort, found news be better remembered, surprising, negative, while lockdowns compressed remembered time. Our work connects laboratory findings real world delineates effects acute versus signatures negative emotion on memory.

Purpose The purpose of this research is to examine the role anticipation as a source well-being in extended service contexts involving constraints on one’s agency (e.g. aged care). In these contexts, consumers have limited ownership over their time usage and foci anticipation, which affects well-being. Design/methodology/approach Semi-structured interviews ( n = 35) were conducted with members care ecosystem (residents, family staff). Two separate models investigated they typically reflect different levels agency/constraint: retirement villages residential facilities. Findings Results indicate that subjective passage influenced by anticipation. Having regular both at micro- macro-level can generate benefits for recipients. importance restabilization building positive curves counteract potential negative implications was identified. Originality/value This first study investigate concept perception key components encounters. We propose novel conceptual model combines into an iterative package mitigate after-effects also demonstrate how Sustainable Development Goal 3 (SDG3) (good health well-being) be addressed through research.

Abstract Temporal processing, the ability to mentally represent and process dynamical unfolding of events over time, is a fundamental feature cognition that evolves with advancing age. Aging has indeed been associated slower more variable performance in timing tasks. However, role depressive symptoms age-related changes temporal processing remains be investigated. Therefore, present work aims shed light on link between symptoms, which are frequent We relied multicentric “Blursday Project” database, providing measures together questionnaires investigating psychological wellbeing. Results reveal aging influences several abilities, from reproduction short time intervals verbal estimations longer distances. Furthermore, slowing down felt passage regarding last few days age was fully mediated by intensity symptoms. Overall, these findings suggest may play pivotal changes.

The need to remember when a past event occurred, is often an everyday necessity. However, placing events in timeline seldom accurate and although some extent modulated by saliency, on average we are less remembering for happening the distant compared more recent events. 277 participants took part online study during May 2022 which they were asked state year number of place. events' occurrences ranged from 2017 2021, with choosing one date 2016-2022 range. In addition, completed 4 questionnaires aimed at quantifying their State Boredom; Depression, Anxiety & stress; resilience; level activity lockdown periods COVID pandemic. As expected, findings showed errors than those 2020, but surprisingly found large error estimating timing that occurred 2021 matching 3 years earlier. show able recall very coinciding lockdowns. Abstract Great places have the potential to create enhanced health outcomes and improve quality of life. The positive connection between built environment social determinants is well documented as role in establishing place sense place. However, relationship concepts capital less understood specifically extent which high levels confer a protective restorative benefit across whole COVID-19 changed our appreciation that both play supporting way life has revealed negative impact on wellness wellbeing arises when fractured. To contribute debate surrounding post-COVID-19 city, this paper explores intrinsic health; it proposes conceptual model positions tool for enhancing at neighbourhood scale. Framework measuring created from traditional literature new context need be inclusive, equitable sustainable. It suggests by building great are based these measurable factors, there can reduction growth medical spending burden disease over time.

Across species, neurons track time over the course of seconds to minutes, which may feed sense passing. Here, we asked whether neural signatures time-tracking could be found in humans. Participants stayed quietly awake for a few minutes while being recorded with magnetoencephalography (MEG). They were unaware they would how long recording lasted (retrospective time) or instructed beforehand estimate it will last (prospective timing). At rest, rhythmic brain activity is nonstationary and displays bursts alpha range (α: 7-14 Hz). When participants not attend time, relative duration α linearly predicted individuals' retrospective estimates their quiet wakefulness lasted. The was better predictor than power burst amplitude. No other arrhythmic duration. However, when timed prospectively, failed predict estimates. Consistent this, amount discriminant between prospective timing. Last, control experiment, demonstrate that relation preserved even are engaged visual counting task. Thus, at scale report spontaneous burstiness predicts conscious time. We conclude absence overt attention embody discrete states awareness constitutive episodic
