Abstract How can we encourage individuals to engage with beneficial ideas, while eschewing dark ideas such as science denial, conspiracy theories, or populist rhetoric? This paper investigates the mechanisms underpinning individuals' engagement proposing a model grounded in education, social networks, and pragmatic prospection.
