Environmental pollution nowadays has not only a direct correlation with human health changes but social impact. Epidemiological studies have evidenced the increased damage to on daily basis because of ecological niche. Rapid urban growth and industrialized societies importantly compromise air quality, which can be assessed by notable accumulation pollutants in both gas particle phases. Of them, particulate matter (PM) represents highly complex mixture organic inorganic compounds most variable size, composition, origin. PM being one environmental pollutants, its also varies temporal spatial manner, challenges current analytical techniques used investigate interactions. Nevertheless, characterization chemical composition is reliable indicator atmosphere, quality breathed urbanized societies, industrial zones consequently gives support for pertinent measures avoid serious damage. Epigenomic promising biological mechanisms pollution-derived carcinogenesis. Therefore, this review aims highlight implication exposure diverse molecular driving diseases altered epigenetic regulation. The presented findings context pan-organic cancer, fibrosis, neurodegeneration metabolic may provide valuable insights into toxicity effects components at epigenomic level serve as biomarkers early detection novel targeted therapies.

Pollution is a critical concern of modern society for its heterogeneous effects on human health, despite widespread lack awareness. Environmental pollutants promote several pathologies through different molecular mechanisms. Pollutants can affect the immune system and related pathways, perturbing regulation triggering pro-inflammatory responses. The exposure to also leads alterations in gut microbiota with decreasing abundance beneficial microbes, such as short-chain fatty acid-producing bacteria, an overgrowth species. subsequent intestinal barrier dysfunction, together oxidative stress increased inflammatory responses, plays role pathogenesis gastrointestinal diseases. Moreover, encourage inflammation-dysplasia-carcinoma sequence various mechanisms, stress, dysregulation cellular signalling cell cycle impairment genomic instability. In this narrative review, we will describe interplay between pollutants, microbiota, system, focusing their relationship bowel diseases colorectal cancer. Understanding biological mechanisms underlying health-to-disease transition may allow design public health policies aimed at reducing burden disease pollutants.

The study explores the intricate relationship between aging and development of noncommunicable diseases [NCDs], focusing on whether these are inevitable consequences or primarily driven by lifestyle factors. By examining epidemiological data, particularly from hunter-gatherer societies, highlights that many NCDs prevalent in modern populations rare suggesting a significant influence choices. It delves into mechanisms through which poor diet, smoking, other factors contribute to systemic physiological imbalances, characterized oxidative stress, insulin resistance hyperinsulinemia, dysregulation sympathetic nervous system, renin-angiotensin-aldosterone immune system. interplay this pattern individual such as genetic susceptibility, biological variability, epigenetic changes microbiome is proposed play crucial role range age-related NCDs. Modified biomolecules oxysterols advanced glycation end products also their development. Specific benign prostatic hyperplasia, Parkinson's disease, glaucoma osteoarthritis analyzed illustrate mechanisms. concludes while contributes risk NCDs, role, offering potential avenues for prevention intervention healthier living practices. One possible approach could be try restore balance, e.g. dietary measures [e.g. Mediterranean Okinawan diet Paleolithic diet] conjunction with [a combination of] pharmacological interventions changes.

Abstract Environmental pollution represents a significant public health concern, with the potential risks associated environmental pollutants receiving considerable attention over an extended period. In recent years, substantial body of research has been dedicated to this topic. Since discovery ferroptosis, iron-dependent programmed cell death typically characterized by lipid peroxidation, in 2012, there have advances study its role and mechanism various diseases. A growing number studies also demonstrated involvement ferroptosis damage caused organism pollutants, molecular mechanisms involved partially elucidated. The targeting be effective means ameliorating PM2.5, organic inorganic ionizing radiation. This review begins providing summary most important ferroptosis. It then proceeds offer critical analysis effects induced pollutants. Furthermore, as is case all rapidly evolving areas, are numerous unanswered questions challenges pertaining pollutant-induced which we discuss attempt provide some directions clues for future field.

Health effects of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) are challenging to detect in the general population. Omics technologies become increasingly common identify early biological changes before apparition clinical symptoms, explore toxic mechanisms and increase plausibility epidemiological associations. This scoping review systematically summarises application omics studies assessing EDCs-associated potential gaps priorities for future research. Ninety-eight human (2004–2021) were identified through database searches (PubMed, Scopus) citation chaining focused on phthalates (34 studies), phenols (19) PFASs (17), while PAHs (12) recently-used pesticides (3) less studied. The sample sizes ranged from 10 12,476 (median = 159), involving non-pregnant adults (38), pregnant women (11), children/adolescents (15) or both latter populations studied together (23). Several included occupational workers (10) and/or highly exposed groups (11) focusing PAHs, pesticides, performed population only. Analysed layers metabolic profiles (30, including 14 targeted analyses), miRNA (13), gene expression DNA methylation (8), microbiome (5) proteins (3). Twenty-one implemented multi-assays routine blood lipid traits, oxidative stress hormones. Overall, associations with EDCs did not overlap across studies, some EDC-associated metabolite groups, such as carnitines, nucleotides amino acids untargeted metabolomic markers consistent studies. Studies had limitations small sizes, cross-sectional designs single sampling exposure biomonitoring. In conclusion, there is a growing body evidence evaluating responses EDCs. points need larger longitudinal wider coverage exposures biomarkers, replication standardisation research methods reporting.
