Abstract The breathing process possesses a complex variability caused in part by the respiratory central pattern generator brainstem; however, it also arises from chemical and mechanical feedback control loops, network reorganization sharing with nonrespiratory motor acts, as well inputs cortical subcortical systems. notion that fluctuations contain hidden information has prompted scientists to decipher signals better understand fundamental mechanisms of generation, interactions emotion, influences on neuronal networks associated cognition, changes healthy disease-carrying individuals. Respiration can be used express emotion. Furthermore, respiration appears organize brain-wide oscillations via cross-frequency coupling, optimizing cognitive performance. With aid theory-based techniques machine learning, translated into form usable clinical practice for diagnosis, emotion recognition, mental conditioning.

Deliberate control of the breath (breathwork) has recently received an unprecedented surge in public interest and breathing techniques have therapeutic potential to improve mental health. Our meta-analysis primarily aimed evaluate efficacy breathwork through examining whether, what extent, interventions were associated with lower levels self-reported/subjective stress compared non-breathwork controls. We searched PsycInfo, PubMed, ProQuest, Scopus, Web Science, ClinicalTrials.gov ISRCTN up February 2022, initially identifying 1325 results. The primary outcome included 12 randomised-controlled trials (k = 12) a total 785 adult participants. Most studies deemed as being at moderate risk bias. random-effects analysis yielded significant small-to-medium mean effect size, g - 0.35 [95% CI 0.55, 0.14], z 3.32, p 0.0009, showing was than conditions. Patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) frequently experience disturbance and psychological distress, such as depression anxiety, which may have a negative impact on their health status functional abilities. To gain more comprehensive understanding of the symptoms depression, in patients OSA, current study utilized network analysis to examine interconnections among these symptoms. Depressive anxiety were evaluated using Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale (HADS), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). A total 621 OSA completed questionnaires. The indices 'Expected influence' 'Bridge expected used centrality measures symptom network. Least Absolute Shrinkage Selection Operator (LASSO) technique Extended Bayesian Information Criterion (EBIC) estimate structure depressive, Network Comparison Test (NCT) was performed evaluate differences between mild moderate severe networks. revealed that A6 ("Getting sudden feelings panic") had highest influence value D6 ("Feeling being slowed down") bridge values NCT results edge weights significantly differed those (M = 0.263, p 0.008). There no significant difference global strength variation two networks (S 0.185, 0.773). Our suggest (e.g., D6) can be prioritized potential targets for intervention treatment OSA.

Hypertension is a major contributor to cardiovascular disease and daily deep breathing exercise (DBE) promising intervention reduce blood pressure stress in adults. DBE simple, time-efficient, does not require specialized equipment, allowing participation wide variety of settings. The workplace an ideal setting implement at the national level for several reasons, including large proportion waking hours spent workplace, high levels sedentary time work, prevalence work-related stress, regular breaks throughout day potentially reducing worker error. While degree adherence will be responsibility individual, employers managers can (and should) do much remove barriers participation. Specifically, this could include: implementing short or classes perform day, covering subscription costs smartphone applications that guide DBE, creating incentive programs continuing Implementing pragmatic approach provide low-cost reduction therapy substantial portion adult population US, least 50% whom have pressure.

Managing dental anxiety in children is a challenging aspect of pediatric dentistry, often addressed using various pharmacologic and nonpharmacologic methods. Nonpharmacologic methods are preferred due to their noninvasiveness minimal adverse effects. This study compares the efficacy aromatherapy bubble breath play therapy (BBPT) reducing patients. In this randomized clinical trial, 64 healthy aged 6-10 years with moderate-to-severe attending first visit were included. Participants randomly assigned either group, where lavender essential oil was diffused, or BBPT engaged blowing for 5 minutes. Anxiety levels assessed Chhota Bheem-Chutki Scale (CBCS), pulse rate (PR), oxygen saturation (SpO2) at baseline, postintervention, posttreatment. Both interventions significantly reduced levels; showed greater reduction (p < 0.001) than aromatherapy. PR decreased post-BBPT 0.05) but not SpO2 improved group 0.05). Intergroup comparisons indicated had superior outcomes improving compared effectively reduce children, offering additional benefits its interactive nature. Future research should explore long-term effectiveness personalized approaches optimize management strategies settings. The relatively novel nonpharmacological behavior techniques can be incorporated into routine practice dentists would improve cooperation during treatment procedures, chairside time, also outcome subsequently, overall quality health care.
