Abstract Water scarcity is a growing concern due to rapid urbanization and population growth. This study assesses spring water quality at 20 stations in Giresun province, Türkiye, focusing on potentially toxic elements physicochemical parameters. The Quality Index rated most samples as "excellent" during the rainy season "good" dry season, except 4 (40° 35′ 12″ North/38° 26′ 34″ East) 19 44′ 28″ 06′ 53″ West), indicating "poor" quality. Mean macro-element concentrations (mg/L) were: Ca (34.27), Na (10.36), Mg (8.26), K (1.48). trace element values (μg/L) Al (1093), Zn (110.54), Fe (67.45), Mn (23.03), Cu (9.79), As (3.75), Ni (3.00), Cr (2.84), Pb (2.70), Co (1.93), Cd (0.76). Health risk assessments showed minimal non-carcinogenic risks, while carcinogenic from arsenic slightly exceeded safe limits (CR = 1.75E−04). Higher were increased recharge, arsenic-laden surface runoff, human activities. Statistical analyses (PCA, PCC, HCA) suggested that metals physico-chemical parameters originated lithogenic, anthropogenic, or mixed sources. Regular monitoring of recommended mitigate potential public health risks waterborne contaminants.

In the realm of environmental engineering and water treatment, significant attention has been devoted to removal hexavalent chromium Cr (VI) from wastewater. Delving into mechanisms adsorption reveals a complex interplay ion exchange, surface complexation, electrostatic interactions dictating binding various materials. Utilizing diverse adsorbents like 2-D materials, metal oxides, bio-based substances is driven by their exceptional absorptive capacity specificity. Key parameters such as pH, temperature, initial concentration, dosage are scrutinized optimize efficiency adsorbent ascertain nature adsorbate. Beyond natural sources, human activities have exacerbated contamination across ecosystems, posing threat food chains due chromium's non-biodegradable persistence. Chromium affects wide range life forms, including humans, aquatic organisms, terrestrial species, through accumulation repercussions discharge. The leaching ground triggers health issues dermatitis, allergic reactions, skin ulcerations, bronchial carcinoma, asthma, gastroenteritis. This review intended list different treatment technologies for along with mechanism. Different types sensors used detection also explored.

Groundwater contamination was studied at several hotspot sites in the Majdanpek copper mining area (Serbia). These include a milling facility, metallurgical wastewater treatment plant, heavy vehicle service area, and waste disposal site. In addition to Cu, high concentrations of As metals (Cd Pb) were detected groundwater soil same sampling points. Mining operations transport activities have been identified as main sources pollution. Abstract Human health is at risk from drinking water contamination, which causes a number of problems in many parts the world. The geochemistry groundwater, its quality, origins groundwater pollution, and associated risks have all been subject substantial research recent decades. In this study, west Rosetta Nile branch Delta Aquifer examined for potential. Numerous quality indices were applied, such as index (WQI), synthetic pollution (SPI) models, assessment (HRA) method. limits measured parameters are used to test validity on basis WHO recommendations. TDS southern regions within desirable allowable with percent 25.3% 29.33%, respectively. Nearly study area has value HCO 3 , Al Ba. Ca Mg values center south portion investigated area, whereas north unsuitable. Na, Cl SO 4 fall desired level but become unsuitable towards north. Mn NO inappropriate except northwestern part. Fe suitable range southwestern regions. Pb, Zn, Cu, Cd undetected collected samples. Regarding WQI classified into classes good, poor, very poor unfit According SPI model, 20%, 18.7%, 8% 34.6% samples suitable, slightly, moderately, highly polluted unfit, respectively Based HRA, Children most category endangered 14.7% overall obtained, followed by females males 12% 8%, This offers insights conservation management coastal aquifers’ supplies. These findings significant implications developing strategies executing preventative actions reduce resource vulnerability related hazards West Delta, Egypt.
