Abstract This study assessed the environmental and health risks associated with heavy metals in water resources of Egypt's northwestern desert. The current approaches included Spearman correlation matrix, principal component analysis, cluster analysis to identify pollution sources quality-controlling factors. Various indices (HPI, MI, HQ, HI, CR) were applied evaluate human risks. Additionally, Monte Carlo method was employed for probabilistic carcinogenic non-carcinogenic risk assessment via oral dermal exposure routes adults children. Notably, all exhibited high HPI MI values exceeding permissible limits (HPI > 100 6), respectively. Furthermore, HI indicated significant both children, while contact posed a 19.4% samples 77.6% children (HI 1). Most CR 1 × 10 –4 Cd, Cr, Pb, suggesting vulnerability effects age groups. simulations reinforced these findings, indicating impact on adults. Consequently, comprehensive treatment measures are urgently needed mitigate Siwa Oasis.

Abstract Trace metal pollution is primarily driven by industrial, agricultural, and mining activities presents complex environmental challenges with significant implications for ecological human health. Traditional methods of risk assessment (ERA) often fall short in addressing the intricate dynamics trace metals, necessitating adoption advanced statistical techniques. This review focuses on integrating contemporary methods, such as Bayesian modeling, machine learning, geostatistics, into ERA frameworks to improve precision, reliability, interpretability. Using these innovative approaches, either alone or preferably combination, provides a better understanding mechanisms transport, bioavailability, their impacts can be achieved while also predicting future contamination patterns. The use spatial temporal analysis, coupled uncertainty quantification, enhances hotspots associated risks. Integrating models ecotoxicology further strengthens ability evaluate health risks, providing broad framework managing pollution. As new contaminants emerge existing pollutants evolve behavior, need adaptable, data-driven methodologies becomes ever more pressing. advancement tools interdisciplinary collaboration will essential developing effective management strategies informing policy decisions. River Danro in Garhwa (India) plays a vital role as significant source of surface water and crucial tributary the North Koel River, ultimately joining Ganga Basin. Serving both urban-industrial rural areas, region faces challenges, including sand mining near Belchampa Ghat. This study aimed to assess physicochemical heavy metals pollution at nine sampling locations, utilizing Overall Index Pollution (OIP), Nemerow (NPI), Heavy Metal (HPI). OIP values indicated excellent quality (0.71) non-monsoon slight (6.28) monsoon. NPI ranged from 0.10 1.74 0.22 (clean) 27.15 (heavily polluted) HPI results suggested groundwater contamination, particularly by lead. Principal component analysis (PCA) geospatial mapping showed similar outcomes, highlighting influence adjacent land use on quality. Recognizing significance sustaining life, livelihoods, economic growth, recommends implementing measures like floating bed remediation regulatory actions for effective river management. The acknowledges weaknesses current practical assessment methods contamination. These make it difficult put plans cleaning up controlling contamination into action. Because this, future research developing new in-place techniques should focus creating better ways measure how cleanup is.

Assessing groundwater quality is essential for ensuring the sustainability of agriculture and ecosystems. This study evaluates contamination by heavy metals (HMs) using GIS approaches, multivariate statistical analysis (MSA), pollution indices (heavy metal index (HPI), (MI), degree (Cd), ecological risk (ERI), (PI)), human health assessment (HHRA). The results revealed significant variations in concentrations across area, with highest found southern southeastern parts, characterized intense agricultural activities uncontrolled landfills. Statistical analyses indicated both natural anthropogenic sources contamination. Pollution showed medium to high water levels, HPI values ranging from 20.23 128.60, MI 3.34 12.17, Cd 2.90 11.73, indicating varying degrees ERI suggested a low all samples. However, assessments highlighted non-carcinogenic carcinogenic risks, particularly children, TCR some like Ni Cr exceeding safe limits, potential hazards. findings provide valuable framework policymakers develop targeted strategies mitigating sustainable management.
