It is well known that the calcium ion essential for maintaining life activities in living organisms, and it of great significance to detect intracellular concentration. For detection ions, we developed a new type fluorescent carbon dots (CDs), whose surface was modified by ethylenebis(oxyethylenenitrilo)tetraacetic acid (EGTA) through secondary hydrothermal method. This simple convenient chemical preparation method because all reactions are carried out same autoclave, final product directly EGTA-modified CDs. The CDs exhibit bright blue fluorescence, as concentration increases, fluorescence intensity drops sharply. quenching correlates with ions has good linearity range 15-300 μM limit 0.38 μM. experimental results confirmed static process. Also, cytotoxicity test cellular imaging experiments have shown nontoxic biocompatible.
