Sea cucumbers are considered a luxury food item and used locally in traditional medication due to their impressive nutritional profile curative effects. contain wide range of bioactive compounds, namely phenolics, polysaccharides, proteins (collagen peptides), carotenoids, saponins, demonstrating strong antioxidant other activities. In particular, phenolic mainly acids flavonoids, abundant this marine invertebrate exhibit activity. Protein hydrolysates peptides obtained from sea potential, dependent on the amino acid compositions sequences as well molecular weight, displayed for those ≤20 kDa. Moreover, activity cucumber including fucosylated chondroitin sulfate fucan, is combination numerous factors mostly associated with degree sulfation, type major sugars. However, these compounds typically depends species, harvesting location, habit, body part, processing methods employed. This review summarizes by-products first time. The mechanism actions, chemical structures, affecting also discussed, along health benefits.

Bioactive peptides from food have been widely studied due to their potential applications as functional foods and pharmaceuticals. Sea cucumber, a traditional tonic food, is characterized by high protein low fat, thereby substrates are being release sea cucumber (SCPs). Although recent studies shown that SCPs various bioactive functions, there no literature reviewing the development status of SCPs. In this review, we summarized production SCPs, including purification identification, then mainly focused on comprehensive health benefits SCP in vivo vitro, finally discussed challenge facing We found well-documented antioxidation, anti-diabetes, ACE inhibitory, immunomodulatory, anti-cancer, anti-fatigue, anti-aging, neuroprotection, micromineral-chelating, etc. However, structure–activity relationships molecular mechanisms underlying regulation need further investigation. Research safety its mechanism will contribute transferring these findings into commercial applications. Hopefully, review could promote application investigation commercialization.

Sea cucumbers are the most prevalent marine invertebrates in Indonesian waters, yet little research has been conducted on bioactive substances found sea harvested from these waters. To investigate potential use of cucumber extracts and fractions such as antibacterial antioxidant agents, five species were Lampung waters Indonesia. The extraction process used maceration method with methanol solvent, while fractionation was carried out n-hexane, ethyl acetate, butanol solvents. activity evaluated using agar diffusion method, assessed ABTS (2,2'-azino-bis (3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid) method. GC-MS to identify compounds extract fraction Holothuria lessoni. results showed that only n-hexane Stichopus quadrifasciatus H. lessoni had against Propionibacterium acnes, acetate leucospilota Staphylococcus aureus. S. Bohadschia marmorata recorded epidermidis. Among tested extracts, highest an IC50 value 155.07 ± 3.05 μg/mL, followed by (163.83 4.46 μg/mL), vastus (209.45 2.40 (245.85 34.97 B. Recently, there has been a growing focus on researching ways to delay aging and protect against age-related illnesses. Small molecular exogenous peptides, sourced from dietary elements like animals, plants, microorganisms, have demonstrated considerable potential in exerting anti-aging effects. Notably, natural food-derived peptides exhibited enhanced stability, safety, absorption efficiency, heightened biological activity. These attributes position them with greater for mitigating aging-related disorders compared alternative drugs or phytochemicals. This review summarizes the origins, structural attributes, isolation methods of properties. It also explores how these external improve conditions such as neurodegenerative diseases, skin aging, metabolic disorders. The underlying mechanisms dictating their impact well-conserved signaling pathways—encompassing oxidative stress, inflammation, apoptosis, collagen synthesis—are meticulously elucidated. paper engages an insightful exploration key challenges pivotal trajectories, grounded ongoing research endeavors. As result, this is poised offer authoritative scientific guidance invaluable support practical implementation realm applications within food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic industries.
