Molecular

promising
host–guest
properties
for
drug
delivery
applications.
Specifically,
guest⊂cage
complexes
can
be
used

release
of
encapsulated
guest
molecules
in
response
to
specific
stimuli.
This
research
explores
both
dynamic
and
constrictive
binding
systems
encapsulation

environments.

Dihydroxy-based
polar
organic
cages
(DIHO-cages)
are
reported
to
selectively
separate
toluene
with
99.5%
purity
from
an
equimolar
toluene/pyridine
mixture,
resulting
in
subsequent
superior
purification
of
pyridine.
The
efficient
separation
and
purification,
enhanced
by
strong
multiple
host/guest
C-H⋯O
interactions
between
the
cage
toluene,

DIHO-cages
as

Abstract
Point‐of‐care
diagnostics
relies
on
optical
and
electrochemical
sensors
to
develop
devices
that
are
both
compact
cost‐effective.
Therefore,
the
search
for
new
design
principles
chemosensors
enable
multiple
signal
outputs
is
a
particularly
interesting
concept.
In
this
work,
we
present
an
unimolecular
chemosensor
based
cucurbit[7]uril
combines
two
readouts
‐
namely
fluorescent
signals
in
single
design.
This
achieved
by
utilizing
tunable
fluorescence
properties
of
reporter
molecule,
which
depend
whether
or
not
it
engulfed
cavity
absence
presence
analyte.
By
setting
up
assay
using
dual
readout
chemosensor,
illicit
drug
formulations
containing
pancuronium
bromide
nicotine
can
be
detected
at
low
micromolar
concentrations
(0–100
μM).
compatible
with
standard
plate
readers
devices,
including
commercially
available
screen‐printed
electrodes.
Overall,
presented
study
represents
significant
advance
development
