Drug-induced liver injury (DILI) has become a serious public health issue worldwide. Many drugs (chemotherapy drugs, fever-reducing medications, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory immunosuppressants, antibiotics, antivirals, and antineoplastic etc.) may cause damage potentially lead to acute failure (ALF). There is an urgent need develop effective treatment programs for DILI. Here, the epidemiology, pathogenesis molecular mechanisms of DILI, reported functional foods dietary bioactive constituents, such as phenols, flavonoids, glycosides, terpenes, carotenoids, isolated from food (legumes, nuts, grains, fruits, spices vegetables, their protective against DILI are summarized classified. Research shows that antipyretic analgesic (such acetaminophen) most common causes drug-induced (DILI). Compounds derived food, particularly have been extensively studied ability alleviate caused by acetaminophen. They exert significant hepatoprotective effects preventing mitochondrial dysfunction oxidative stress, well inhibiting inflammation. However, reducing toxicity food-derived compounds improving solubility bioavailability in remain current future challenges address. Future research on application anti-DILI also needed. Overall, this review provide insights into potential use
