Stability and Properties of Ultraviolet Filter Avobenzone under Its Diketo/Enol Tautomerization Induced by Molecular Encapsulation with β-Cyclodextrin

Inclusion
complexation

avobenzone
(AVB)
with
β-cyclodextrin
(β-CD)
was
investigated
to
improve
its
aqueous
solubility
and
photostability;
another
ultraviolet
(UV)
filter,
oxybenzone
(OXB),
phytochemical
antioxidant
curcumin
(CUR)
served
as
a
comparison.
In
this
study,
1-octanol/water
partition
coefficients,
acid
dissociation
constants,
phase-solubility
diagrams
β-CD,
ultraviolet–visible
(UV–vis)
spectral
changes
induced
by
UVA1
(365
nm)
irradiation
were
evaluated.
β-CD
at
concentrations
50–100
times
that
AVB
most
effectively
protected
photostability
AVB.
Additionally,
an
UVA1-insensitive
species
diketo
tautomer,
which
has
UVC-absorbing
band
potential
cause
photodegradation,
stored
in
inclusion
complex.
Acetonitrile–water
mixtures
various
volume
ratios
screened
mimic
internal
cavity
for
tautomeric

nuclear
magnetic
resonance
(NMR)

seeds

alternative

polymer.

nanocrystals

carriers
for
delivering
curcumin

breast
cancer
cell

diseases.
This
article
reviews
latest
2024
developments
in
design
applications
nanoparticles
dedicated
to
stand-alone
PDT
breast
cancer.
Strategies
improve
efficacy
enhancing
reactive
oxygen
species
(ROS)
production,
precise
delivery
photosensitizers
their
stabilization
systemic
circulation
are
discussed,
among
others.
Results
from
preclinical
studies
indicate
significant
improvements
efficacy,
including
inhibition
tumor
growth,
reduction
metastasis
improvement
immune
microenvironment.
The
potential
these
technologies
expand
medicine
need
further
clinical
trials
confirm
safety
highlighted.
