Abstract Ruben Martin (left) was born in Barcelona 1976. After receiving his PhD at the Universitat de with Prof. Antoni Riera, he moved January 2004 to Max-Planck-Institut für Kohlenforschung, Mülheim, as a Humboldt postdoctoral fellow Alois Fürstner, where worked on iron cross-coupling reactions. In May 2005, undertook further studies Massachusetts Institute of Technology Stephen L. Buchwald developed new metal-catalyzed C–C and C–N bond-forming September 2008, initiated independent career an Assistant Professor ICIQ (Tarragona). July 2013, promoted Associate subsequently ICREA Research Professor. His research interests concern discovery development synthetically useful organo­metallic methodologies. Masahiro Murakami (right) studied chemistry University ­Tokyo under supervision Mukaiyama, doctoral degree science 1984. He started assistant position Mukaiyama same place. 1987, Kyoto take late Yoshihiko Ito (1937–2006). took leave from 1991 March 1992 work for Albert Eschenmoser ETH Zürich post-doctoral fellow. then returned Kyoto, being 1993 2002. 2022, retired University. include useful, yet mechanistically interesting, organic sections, utilization photo-energy synthesis.

Abstract Using electron-rich or electron-poor N-substituted oxazolidines as substrates, selective formation of either ammonium oxonium ylides is possible in the presence α-imino carbenes. As such, treatment 5-membered oxazolidine precursors with N-sulfonyl-1,2,3-triazoles under dirhodium catalysis (2 mol%) affords regiodivergent synthesis 8-membered 1,3,6- 1,4,6-oxadiazocines upon initial N O reactivity carbene.

Total Synthesis of (–)-Rauvomine B via a Strain-Promoted Intramolecular Cyclopropanation DOI Creative Commons

We describe the first total synthesis of unusual cyclopropane-containing indole alkaloid (–)-rauvomine B via a strategy centered upon intramolecular cyclopropanation tetracyclic N-sulfonyl triazole. Preparation this precursor evolved through two generations synthesis, with ultimately successful route involving palladium-catalyzed stereospecific allylic amination, cis-selective Pictet–Spengler reaction, and ring-closing metathesis as important bond-forming reactions. The key step was found to be highly dependent on structure conformational strain indoloquinolizidine triazole precursor, origins which are explored computationally DFT studies. Overall, our proceeds in 11 steps 2.4% yield from commercial materials.
