Reclaiming Healthcare’s Healing Mission for a Sustainable Future

Healthcare in the United States has reached a point where it is unsustainable for long term, particularly poor, elderly, and healthcare workers (HCWs) themselves. We propose framework making U.S. more sustainable, whereby service returns to its core mission of healing. The casts that healing broadly applicable, practical terms, leaders organizations wider for-profit, not-for-profit, governmental ecosystem take concrete steps improve outcomes patients HCWs. Those involve aligning resources, incentives, policies with then implementing change specific ways particular have already shown are achievable sustainable. use those examples illustrate how healing-oriented innovations delivery get deployed progress toward sustainability ensues. Lessons from these efforts can be tailored individual contexts institutions—and applied on national scale. discussed initiatives also guide direction future research sustainability.

Percentage Of Dentists And Dental Practices Affiliated With Private Equity Nearly Doubled, 2015–21

Over the course of past twenty years, private equity (PE) has played a role in acquiring medical practices, hospitals, and nursing homes. More recently, PE taken greater interest dental but few data exist about scope activity within dentistry. We analyzed dentist provider for period 2015-21 to examine trends acquisition practices. The percentage dentists affiliated with increased from 6.6 percent 2015 12.8 2021. During this period, affiliation particularly among larger practices specialists such as endodontists, oral surgeons, pediatric dentists. PE-affiliated were more likely participate Medicaid than not PE. Future research should investigate whether PE's dentistry affects affordability quality services.
