Abstract
The
full
potential
of
managing
microbial
communities
to
support
plant
health
is
yet-unrealized,
in
part
because
it
remains
difficult
ascertain
which
members
are
most
important
for
the
plant.
However,
microbes
that
consistently
associate
with
a
species
across
varied
field
conditions
and
over
development
likely
engage
host
or
environment.
Here,
we
applied
abundance-occupancy
concepts
from
macroecology
quantify
core
membership
bacterial/archaeal
fungal
rhizosphere
common
bean
(Phaseolus
vulgaris).
Our
study
investigated
microbiome
persisted
multiple
dimensions
agriculture,
including
major
U.S.
growing
regions
(Michigan,
Nebraska,
Colorado,
Washington),
development,
annual
plantings,
divergent
genotypes,
also
included
re-analysis
public
data
beans
grown
Colombia.
We
found
48
bacterial
taxa
were
detected
all
samples,
inclusive
datasets
dimensions.
This
suggests
reliable
enrichment
these
environment
time-independence
their
association
More
generally,
breadth
ecologically
this
work
(space,
time,
genotype,
management)

example
how
systematically
identify
stably-associated

Abstract
Unraveling
the
drivers
controlling
community
assembly
is
a
central
issue
in
ecology.
Although
it
generally
accepted
that
selection,
dispersal,
diversification
and
drift
are
major
processes,
defining
their
relative
importance
very
challenging.
Here,
we
present
framework
to
quantitatively
infer
mechanisms
by
phylogenetic
bin-based
null
model
analysis
(iCAMP).
iCAMP
shows
high
accuracy
(0.93–0.99),
precision
(0.80–0.94),
sensitivity
(0.82–0.94),
specificity
(0.95–0.98)
on
simulated
communities,
which
10–160%
higher
than
those
from
entire
community-based
approach.
Application
of
grassland
microbial
communities
response
experimental
warming
reveals
dominant
roles
homogeneous
selection
(38%)
‘drift’
(59%).
Interestingly,
decreases
over
time,

Abstract
Microbial
communities
play
important
roles
in
all
ecosystems
and
yet
a
comprehensive
understanding
of
the
ecological
processes
governing
assembly

Abstract
Anthropogenic
nitrogen
(N)
input
is
known
to
alter
plant
and
microbial
α‐diversity,
but
how
N
enrichment
influences
β‐diversity
of
communities
remains
poorly
understood.
Using
a
long‐term
multilevel
addition
experiment
in
temperate
steppe,
we
show
that
plant,
soil
bacterial
fungal
exhibited
different
responses
their
input.
Plant
decreased
linearly
as
increased,
result
increased
directional
environmental
filtering,
where
properties
largely
explained
variation
β‐diversity.
Soil
first
then
with
increasing
input,
which
was
best
by
corresponding
changes
heterogeneity.
β‐diversity,
however,
remained
unchanged
across
the
gradient,
properties,
heterogeneity

explaining
an
insignificant
fraction
reflecting
