Purpose

This
paper
explores
the
multifaceted
challenges
post-colonial
African
states
face
in
addressing
underdevelopment
and
ethnoreligious
intolerance,
resulting
an
unstable
socio-economic
political
environment.
It
argues
that
inability
of
post-independent

foster
good
governance,
accountability,
inclusive
politics
has
given
rise
violent
non-state
actors
(VNSAs)
seeking
challenge
state's
legitimacy
due
its
failure

essential
services.
With
Africa's
diverse
makeup,
fragmentation
governance
inevitably

rebellion
against
state,
fuelling
growth

VNSAs.

review
