While tourism boycotts can have a considerable economic impact on target entity, critics often question their effectiveness in changing the entity’s behavior, particularly international contexts. Despite these challenges, increased over time. This study explores dynamics of amid political conflicts and investigates motivations behind consumer participation. During an ongoing national boycott South Korea, we conducted online survey with nationally representative adult panel, gathering 962 responses for analysis. Our findings reveal that participants—primarily women, older individuals, those higher education income, progressive—resemble participants Europe U.S. perceived efficacy (instrumental motivation) is emphasized as key variable participation, our suggests are primarily driven by expressive motivations, such self-esteem guilt, rather than mix instrumental factors. consumers engage not necessarily to achieve tangible outcomes, but express personal or ethical values, highlighting distinctive nature landscape activism.

ABSTRACTThis article examines tourists' experiences based on a content analysis of 23,640 online TripAdvisor reviews the Cu Chi tunnels, one most well-known dark tourist sites in Vietnam. Using netnography approach, we found that are from inbound tourists. We identified several factors impact perceptions, including underground experience, war history, tour guide's narrative talents, experience shooting weapons on-site, and relative size crowd. Both positive negative were grouped into few common categories. Based our analysis, observed current improvement service quality, programmes, presentations is not enough to transform at site. The Melbourne Cup is Australia's pinnacle horse racing event, attracting more than 80,000 physical attendees each year (pre-COVID-19), as well numerous others watching via live broadcasts around the country and overseas. In recent times, however, there have been growing calls to boycott following concerns over treatment of horses. New hashtag movements lobbying against also emerged, aided by affordances social media. However, very little attention has paid these digital in animal-based leisure recreation literature. this study, we investigate one such movement, namely, #Nuptothecup. We explore how framed activists, revealing their moral, socio-cultural, political objections. Our findings suggest a societal shift towards strong animal ethics sentiment combined with generalised disdain industry its wider ramifications. argue that if #Nuptothecup related activisms continue gain momentum, may eventually lose licence operate. Further, consider potential opportunities for managers reinvent racing's image practices, it secure survival an Australian recreational institution.
