Abstract While child development is well‐recognized as a complex process which could hardly be decomposed into separate lines or domains in contemporary psychological theories, the decomposition approach widely used empirical studies. Based on cultural‐historical theory, this study argues for adopting unit of analysis way to bridge gap, and finds “role adjustment” suitable analyse during transition school. The case 5‐year‐old second‐generation Chinese Australian child's school (with total 34 h observation 5 interview) presented verify its feasibility illustrate how it achieved research practice. demonstrates that role adjustment essence transforming his/her system, major roles, relation well role‐taking patterns change whole, by tracing trajectory, learning developing, what difficulties he/she encounter, why these appear become clear.

This study focuses on preschool class children and grade one pupils’ questions about the natural sciences. The article presents that pupils asked via a chat function in connection with digital interactive lesson molecules arranged by culture center Sweden. results of thematic analysis are discussed relation to their didactic implications for science teaching young learners. most relevant conclusions drew from own experiences when approaching molecules, they could generalize apply them other contexts, needed time process content then ask questions. The term 'transition to primary school' is widely used in contemporary research, yet its meaning remains ambiguous due the varied and often inconsistent definitions applied it. This paper reconceptualises transition school through three key steps. Initially, it contrasts prevalent conceptualisations: as a 'milestone', an 'event', 'process', ultimately arguing that conceptualising process more appropriate. Subsequently, critically reviews studies treat process, identifying both existing promising research focuses. Finally, dynamic, multidimensional unity, where individual, collective, educational dimensions dialectically influence one another. new framework provides integrative understanding of transition, offering foundation for aligning relevant practices across various dimensions.

<p>The article discusses the main ideas of cultural-historical theory social environment as a source development from point view possibility "refocusing research on development" and transition descriptive (empirical) ways analysing experimental data to explanatory ones. Transition to primary school in China: an analysis of policy documents since 1949 DOI

Purpose China’s education has rapidly developed since 1949. Although much been written about reforms in preschool and primary policies, less attention given to the transition-to-primary school policies. Design/methodology/approach This study examines evolution of these policies from 1949 onward, analysing 61 policy documents PKULaw. Findings Four phases are identified: minimal political (1949–1982), steady releases (1983–2004), stagnation (2005–2010) frequent updates (since 2011). Policy changes align with educational development, reflecting a shift academic readiness overall development. Increased government involvement led more diverse themes cooperation among stakeholders. The role class evolved basic support for children without kindergarten access an institution early learning, prompting restrict it. Originality/value These findings provide valuable insights optimizing offer lessons other nations facing similar challenges transitioning school.
