The COVID-19 pandemic has created cause for rapid innovation in, reimagining of, and pivoting of higher education institutions. Prior to 2020, the global sector began radically focus their efforts on creating sustainable institutions, incorporated United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). novel coronavirus may have changed that. This systematic review examines eight manuscripts, identified through a search strategy sustainability during across 2020–2021. Interestingly, low volume manuscripts highlights potential learning teaching risks, as priorities shifted digitalization emergency remote practices. These focused Goal 4, inclusive equitable quality (50%); 8, decent work economic growth; 9, industry, innovation, infrastructure (37.5%); goal enabling integrating embedding into curriculum (12.5%). implications this highlight need rebuild Goals, particularly considering evolving landscape COVID-19. While there were still considerable volumes 2020–2021, lack contextualization current conditions should be concern scholars. creates critical foundation accelerating our understanding achieving SDGs in beyond pandemic.

In a period strongly marked by constraints and abrupt societal changes, school leaders had to manage the pandemic crisis, guide find new solutions respond demands of increasingly digitalised schools. this context, study was carried out identify main challenges faced in Portugal how digital technologies (DTs) were used address those challenges. From methodological point view, questionnaire with closed open questions on DTs during COVID-19 submitted Portuguese between November 2020 March 2021.
