Individuals with lung cancer (LC) face a variety of symptoms that significantly impact their lives. We use extensive patient input to determine the relative importance and prevalence these identify which demographic features are associated higher level disease burden. We performed semi-structured qualitative interviews participants LC potentially important symptoms. then conducted cross-sectional study, in rated 162 individual covering 14 symptomatic themes. Participant responses were analyzed by age, sex, disability status, duration, stage, type treatment received, smoking history, among other categories. Our study had 139 LC. The most prevalent themes reported this population fatigue (85.5%), impaired sleep daytime sleepiness (73.5%), emotional issues (73.0%). greatest average (on scale 0 4, 4 being impactful) social role dissatisfaction (1.67), inability do activities (1.64), (1.60). Disability status strongest association theme prevalence. stage (stage IV), receipt therapy, experience also frequency themes.Individuals diverse disease-specific affect daily Patient insight on is invaluable advance meaningful therapeutic interventions.

Chemotherapy is a life-sustaining therapeutic option for cancer patients. Despite the advancement of several modern therapies, such as immunotherapy, gene therapy, etc., chemotherapy remains first-line therapy most Along with its anti-cancerous effect, exhibits detrimental consequences that restrict efficacy and long-term utilization. While chemotherapy is the most effective therapeutic approach for treating a variety of cancer patients, commonly used chemotherapeutic agents, often induce several adverse effects. Escalating evidence indicates that chemotherapeutics, particularly doxorubicin (DOX) and cyclophosphamide (CPS), cognitive impairment associated with central nervous system toxicity. This study was performed to determine neuroprotective effects Oroxylum indicum extract (OIE) in regard preventing induced (CICI) occurring after 4 cycles DOX (2mg/kg) CPS (50mg/kg) combination male C57BL/6J mice. OIE significantly prevented impaired short-term performance, exploratory behavior spatial learning memory Y-maze, Open-Field, Novel Object Recognition, Morris Water Maze tests, respectively. These data suggest protects from CICI. decreased reactive oxygen species lipid peroxide generated by treatment brain, while also blocking chemotherapy-induced glutathione depletion. results establish exhibits potent antioxidant activity treated Notably, increased Complex-I Complex-IV activities indicating enhances mitochondrial function brain. In silico analysis major active chemical constituents (Oroxylin A, Baicalein Chrysin) indicated has favorable absorption, distribution, metabolism excretion (ADME) profile. Taken together, our are consistent conclusion prevents CICI counteracting oxidative stress perhaps improving function.

Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) is a devastating disease with low survival rate and few efficacious treatment options. The fast growth, late diagnostics, off-target toxicity of currently used drugs represent major barriers that need to be overcome provide viable cure. Nanomedicines (NMeds) offer way these pitfalls by protecting loading drugs, increasing blood half-life, being targetable specific ligands on their surface. In this study, the FDA-approved polymer poly (lactic-co-glycolic) acid was optimise NMeds were surface modified series potential GBM-specific ligands. fully characterised for physical chemical properties, then in vitro testing performed evaluate cell uptake GBM specificity. While all targeted showed improved uptake, only those decorated the-cell vimentin antibody M08 specificity over healthy cells. Finally, most promising NMed candidate loaded well-known chemotherapeutic, paclitaxel, confirm targeting therapeutic effects C6 These results demonstrate importance using well-optimised novel advance delivery pharmaceutical against diseased cells while minimising risk nearby

IntroductionThe role of the Therapy Radiographer/Radiation Therapist (TR/RTT) is to provide radiotherapy patients with a cancer diagnosis. This includes, not only administration treatment, but also management side-effects and provision support/care. Despite this being consistent throughout Europe, there currently no standardisation education for TRs/RTTs. The SAFE EUROPE project aims standardize TR/RTT enable 'safe free exchange' TRs/RTTs across Europe. Consequently, study explore patients' perspectives regarding current skills competencies TRs/RTTs.MethodsFrom May 2021 February 2022, semi-structured interviews were conducted who had recently received in UK, Malta Portugal. Ethical approval was granted by NHS Research Ethics Committee additional local approvals obtained.ResultsForty-eight participants from UK (n = 18), Portugal 19), 11) completed interviews. Participants described high satisfaction TRs'/RTTs' competence all three countries. main theme arising analysis importance trust building Six factors identified as influencing levels trust: communication; side-effect management; team consistency; relational skills; patient dignity; competence. A small number reported feeling rushed having their physical emotional needs met TRs/RTTs.ConclusionThis multicentre demonstrated that perceive highly competent skilled. Practical recommendations are provided address deficits practice, which can be addressed through adaptation education/training clinical practice.Implications practiceRecommendations important ensure have transferable consistently quality care

Approximately 15% to 40% of persons with chronic pain as a primary disorder experience brain fog. Prior research has investigated the etiology "brain fog" in conditions which presents key feature (e.g., fibromyalgia). However, it remains understudied context 10 musculoskeletal pain. Following current scoping review guidelines, we obtained stakeholder input from patient and health care professionals (HCPs) define this phenomenon. Specific aims were (1) identify factors contributing fog, (2) functional correlates fog assessments used measure them, (3) establish definition that can be employed by researchers HCPs advance care.A was conducted using recommendations Joanna Briggs Institute methodology reviews Levac et al methodology. Embase, Cinahl, PsycINFO, Medline searched relevant sources. Findings verified healthcare professionals. We identified four 15 features fog: perceived variability, subjective cognitive dysfunction, participation limitations, changes activities. We developed model illustrating overlapping categories contributors pain: neuroanatomical neurophysiological, mental health/emotional, environmental/lifestyle.The results conclude inconsistency regarding 20 is obstructing clear understanding phenomenon therefore may impeding receiving optimal care. Childhood cancer and cancer-related treatments disrupt brain development maturation, placing survivors at risk for cognitive late effects. Given that assessment tools vary widely across researchers clinicians, it has been daunting to identify distinct patterns in outcomes diverse types implement systematic neurocognitive screening tools. This review aims operationalize processing efficiency skill impairment-or inefficient neural as measured by working memory speed abilities-as a worthwhile avenue continued study within the context of childhood cancer.A comprehensive literature was conducted examine existing research on effects biopsychosocial factors order conceptualize trends survivors. While frequently reported pattern neurobiological (white matter) (working speed) disruption is consistent with impairment, these weaknesses have not yet fully operationalized this population. We offer theoretical model highlights impacts host biological environmental underlying substrates precede may even predict long-term functional abilities following treatment. The unified construct be useful assessing communicating skills both clinical practice. Deficits serve possible indicator due unique relationship between treatment. Continued along lines crucial advancing improving quality life survivors.
