BACKGROUND Before the COVID-19 pandemic, adolescents with type 1 diabetes (T1D) had already experienced far greater rates of psychological distress than their peers. With pandemic further challenging mental health and increasing barriers to maintaining optimal self-management, it is vital that this population has access remotely deliverable, evidence-based interventions improve outcomes. Chatbots, defined as digital conversational agents, offer these unique advantages, well ability engage in empathetic personalized conversations 24-7. Building on previous work developing a self-compassion program for T1D, chatbot (COMPASS) was developed T1D address concerns. However, acceptability potential clinical usability deliver coping tools remained unknown. OBJECTIVE This qualitative study designed evaluate utility COMPASS among aged 12 16 years care professionals. METHODS Potential adolescent participants were recruited from participant lists, web in-clinic flyers, whereas professionals via clinic emails research special interest groups. Qualitative Zoom (Zoom Video Communications, Inc) interviews exploring views conducted 19 (in 4 focus groups) 11 2 groups 6 individual interviews) March 2022 April 2022. Transcripts analyzed using directed content analysis examine features greatest importance both RESULTS Adolescents broadly representative youth living Aotearoa (11/19, 58% female; 13/19, 68% New Zealand European; 2/19, 11% Māori). Health represented range disciplines, including nurse specialists (3/11, 27%), psychologists dieticians endocrinologists (2/11, 18%). The findings insight into what see shared advantages desired future additions, such personalization (mentioned by all adolescents), self-management support professionals), breadth flexibility 10/11, 91% professionals). The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) has had a rapid and sustained negative impact on sleep mental health in the United States with disproportionate morbidity mortality among socioeconomically deprived populations. We used multivariable logistic regression to evaluate associations duration, health, socioeconomic deprivation (social index) 14,676 Ohio residents from 1101 zip code tabulation areas 2020 Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System (BRFSS) survey. Higher was associated shorter poorer after adjusting for covariates (age, sex, race, education, income, body mass linear models. The purpose of this study was to explore perceptions the first dose a cognitive behavioral sleep self-management intervention (CB-sleep) among young adults aged 18 25 years with type 1 diabetes (T1D). We used qualitative descriptive approach conduct in-depth semi-structured focused interviews purposive sample 16 T1D, transitioning from adolescence early adulthood. Interviews were audio-recorded, transcribed verbatim, and analyzed using content analysis. Participants described their knowledge (previous, new, additional), health goals, along barriers facilitators CB-sleep intervention. Based on these results, we suggest is useful modality potential support in T1D during complex life transition. Furthermore, could be incorporated into an existing education program after pilot testing determining efficacy improve glycemic health.
