Climate change is an increasingly global issue that impacts individual well-being. Research has shown adolescents are more at risk of experiencing climate anxiety, leading them to be sensitive the topic and act in favor environment. Climate change is a threat to the mental and emotional wellbeing of all humans, but young people are particularly vulnerable. Although the UK has been relatively spared significant geophysical impacts of climate change, many people, youth in particular, are increasingly worried about change. The psychological distress associated with (perceived) threat change linked to poorer mental wellbeing but can also promote adaptive responses such as engagement pro-environmental behaviour. In this mixed methods study, we delve deeper into experience 'climate distress' among residents aged 16-24 (N = 539). We conducted an online survey assessing general health, subjective wellbeing, and existing scales. included novel questions positive negative life open-ended on aspirations priorities for future, actions. Our findings indicate that health factors may contribute vulnerability distress. Predictably, socio-psychological (i.e., frustration over inaction, lack control, shame or guilt one's own contributions) were higher scores scale. Despite substantial investments in mental health care and healthcare accessibility Europe, the well-being of young people is on a concerning decline. This deterioration further exacerbated by recent global crises, notably Covid-19 pandemic, war Ukraine, climate change, deepening economic crisis leading to increased poverty social exclusion. The main research goal was investigate how entering adulthood experience polycrisis stress, responsibility for self-perceived proximity. study involved 403 adult Poles, taking high school final exams years 2020–21. Assessment tools included Brief Symptoms Inventory 18, Difficulties Emotion Regulation Scale, Personality ICD-11, Flourishing Index. Using latent class analysis, three distinct profiles were identified, representing diverse experiences polycrisis. Following indications from international organizations, this study tests the associations between five domains of social, emotional, and behavioral (SEB) skills (self-management, innovation, social engagement, cooperation, emotional resilience) two key antecedents proenvironmental behavior, namely nature connectedness self-perceived action competence for sustainability, in a sample 702 students aged 12 20 years (M = 16.18, SD 2.15; 319 males). Results showed that innovation and—to lesser extent—self-management cooperation are positively associated with both competence. An additional exploratory path analysis suggested association SEB (innovation, self-management, cooperation) behavior could bemediated by connectedness.
