This research focuses on understanding the complex impact of Cyclone Aila migration decisions, particularly regarding motivations that compel specific vulnerable populations to remain in their current locations despite severe consequences. It conducts a comparative analysis choices, adaptive strategies and capacities migrant non-migrant Bangladesh after 2009 Aila, focusing severely affected districts Satkhira Khulna. To achieve this, comprehensive survey 284 households was conducted, including 130 154 households. The utilized statistical techniques, such as frequency distribution, chi-squared tests, multinomial logistic regression, along with qualitative insights gathered through in-depth interviews analyzed using NVivo software provide more coping these findings indicate severity cyclone experience significantly impacted displaying firm attachment original location because better economic opportunities, emotional bonds, vibrant social networks, higher tolerance for adversity. Migrants are attracted locales, providing living conditions, safety, access healthcare education. also revealed differences adopted by migrants non-migrants. have options housing, agriculture, livestock management, food security, health sanitation, employment. Abstract This study examines the impact of intergenerational learning and intellectual capital on women’s voluntary decisions to remain in place despite environmental risks. By investigating how women experience decision stay through knowledge transfer, we analyze adaptability communities facing climate-driven livelihood challenges intricate socio-ecological factors that tie individuals their homes. Through life-story interviews with 70 from 25 households five hazard-prone sites Bangladesh, reveals nuanced patterns traditional gender roles both support limit autonomy making mobility choices. Although vary across site scale, systemic issues such as arranged child marriage, financial instability, (traditional) home-bound duties, male authority over decisions, gendered expectations consistently emerged barriers (non-)migration, even when they aspired leave. Thus, this research offers insights into (non-)migration its intergenerationality, which is inevitable developing sustainable adaptation pathways.

Against the backdrop of global climate change, extreme weather events, such as heavy rainfall, typhoons, tsunamis, and rising sea levels, have become frequent, posing unprecedented challenges to human society. As an important strategy for coastal cities respond climate-induced evacuation is influenced by complex diverse factors. This study delves into driving mechanisms population migration willingness, revealing dynamic balance push, pull, resistance factors their interaction with individual value orientations affecting decisions. By constructing a Logistic Regression Model, this research quantitatively analyzes significant impacts personal circumstances, family characteristics, living conditions, risk perception, compensation relocation, supportive policies on using Shanghai case study. The findings indicate that age, education level, household size, housing type, are key Building upon multidimensional capital threshold response patterns identified in research, proposes three-phase progressive policy framework: initially, establishing integrated human–material–social framework implement tiered relocation incentive programs, which address decision window constraints through cognitive empowerment asset replacement strategies; subsequently, creating adjustment mechanism developing toolkits aligned inverted U-shaped utility curves while enhancing synergistic effects between cultural cognition transformation vocational training; ultimately, innovating institutional–cultural co-governance paradigm rebalances public service dependency place attachment spatial equity redistribution. Specific recommendations encompass designing modular curricula, social network transplantation mechanisms, piloting citizenship regimes, cross-border governance knowledge platforms. These interventions encompassing restructuring, responsiveness, adaptation offer valuable insights resolving “development resilience–migration inertia” paradox cities.

Abstract The intent of households to relocate amidst floods in Ghana's Greater Accra Metropolitan Area, using combined socio‐demographic and physical factors is analyzed within 1206 households. National Master Sampling Frame Population Housing Census utilized for the sampling. Probit estimation technique employed understand intersectionality social, economic, demographic, considerations influencing households' decision‐making regarding relocation flood risks. findings show reluctance contrary considered mostly as preferred adaptation. likelihood relocating exhibited a non‐linear pattern, decreasing only when population was younger until age 55 before reversing. Indigenous not relocate. In communities where place attachment revenue sources significantly impacted decisions, with secondary education, past experiences, non‐indigenous status influenced higher perception risk. Therefore, an effective global adaptation strategy widespread. Thus, empowering accept certain level risk potentially avoids maladaptation involves combination hard infrastructure measures regulatory approaches places residence that do compromise livelihoods. However, if becomes necessary, right‐based approach must be favored over absolute risk‐based approach.
