Purpose This Perspectives paper advances understanding of coaching in pediatric rehabilitation. We compare three approaches designed for rehabilitation: Coping with and Caring Infants Special Needs (COPCA), Occupational Performance Coaching (OPC), Solution-Focused Pediatric Rehabilitation (SFC-peds).Objectives Our objectives are to contrast the theory underpinning approaches, discuss evidence outcomes hypothesized mechanisms change, consider necessary mindsets effective coaches, propose directions research practice.Summary The have different theoretical bases specific contexts, yet similar their change intended outcomes. There is growing important effects on coachees' goal achievement, empowerment, capacity building. Studies indicate that stakeholders value coaching, provide a preliminary mechanisms, including engagement self-efficacy, by which support clients' self-directed sustained change.
