Abstract Background The study explores language acquisition in Chinese English as a Foreign Language (EFL) education, where proficiency is crucial for global opportunities. Results reveal that perfectionism (β = 0.30, p < 0.001), self-efficacy 0.25, 0.005), motivation 0.35, habits 0.20, 0.01), self-reflection 0.28, 0.001) significantly predict proficiency. Cultural effects (Beta 0.15, 0.05) show statistically significant, albeit minimal, impact. The use of different generative AIs such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or Google’s Gemini has been implemented and studied in aspects language education. However, exploring how the combination teacher-generated feedback AI-generated influences student revision practices EFL academic writing remains largely unexplored. To fill gap, this preliminary study investigates impact two forms feedback, including well orders which types have executed, that is, before (TGF-AIGF) (AIGF-TGF), on students’ a 15-week course with fourteen Vietnamese undergraduates. Using an tool, analyzed revisions four essays, focusing local (grammar vocabulary) global (content organization) aspects. Findings revealed consistently resulted higher frequencies compared to alone, it provided specific, actionable, comprehensive suggestions. integration teacher- yielded highest frequencies, demonstrating complementary strengths, addressed surface-level issues, while focused higher-order concerns. Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative AI tools are revolutionising every aspect of academia, including medical, physical, STEM education. They have also proved their mettle in blended learning systems distance programs by improving educational sustainability, accessibility, engagement.
