Abstract Background Intervening to modify frailty trajectories may be critical maintain health and independence in later life. The Active Ageing Programme (AAP) is a 16-week community-based intervention for older people with mild that combines physical activity social interaction. programme aims positively impact resilience wellbeing, changing the physical, mental factors on trajectories. We conducted rapid qualitative study first cohort understand acceptability feasibility of AAP. Methods Purposive sampling was used identify recruit staff participants involved AAP semi-structured interviews. topic guides covered experiences perceptions training referral, delivery participation activities, benefits challenges. Data from 20 interviews were analysed using reflexive thematic approach inductive coding. Theoretical Domains Framework prompted consideration potential individual, environmental influencing changes behaviour practice. Results Sixteen (10) (6) completed Two themes developed: combining motivating components; addressing what matters. brought together number components supported its successful implementation by sustaining their engagement. These included convenient familiar location, opportunity improve (participants) gain experience an intervention, confidence (staff), variety activities offer. perceived have increase personal resources (e.g. knowledge, confidence, motivation) those taking part. Areas identified as important AAP’s future sustainability success were: tailoring recruitment practices; enhancing organisational communication; strengthening support achieve long-term increased resilience. Conclusions Our findings suggest interventions targeting acceptable, feasible useful. Further work needed investigate such programmes service utilisation. Efforts should targeted at improving impacts.

The number of frail older people is increasing. To alleviate poor health and improve quality life, pre-frail need to adhere their medication. Yet, studies examining the connection between social capital (including six dimensions) medication adherence are currently scarce. Therefore, this study aims examine relationship in individuals with pre-frailty frailty, respectively. Information concerning socio-demographics, capital, 4218 participants was collected through a structured questionnaire during November December 2020. This employed descriptive analysis binary logistic regression fit relationship. Among respondents, those lower participation (AOR 0.55 [95% CI 0.44–0.69]) had less risk inadequate adherence; while 1.91 1.54–2.36]), trust 2.80 2.25–3.47]), cohesion 2.04 1.65–2.53]), reciprocity 2.32 1.87–2.88]) were all related higher odds adherence. Also, 0.54 0.40–0.74]) linked adherence, 1.89 1.41–2.54]), 1.68 1.24–2.26]), 1.52 1.14–2.04]) found have greater respondents. By enhancing challenging community offering educational programs that promote from perspective our findings emphasize relevance improving later especially for adults.

Abstract Background Previous research indicates that frailty and loneliness are interrelated. The aim of this study is to analyze their possible reciprocal relationship while disentangling between- within-person effects. separation these sources variance vital for a better understanding potential causal mechanisms. Methods Within the FRequent health Assessment In Later life (FRAIL70+) project, participants aged 70 over completed two measurement bursts spread one year apart with seven biweekly assessments each. final sample consisted 426 individuals at baseline ( M age =77.0; SD = 5.4; 64.6% female). A latent curve model structured residuals was used examine between (37-item deficit accumulation approach) (3-item UCLA scale). Results No relevant cross-lagged effects repeated 2-week periods were found level, but increases in co-occurred loneliness. At between-person higher levels correlated each burst. Conclusion findings do not support assumption share weeks months. Nonetheless, weakly associated within- considerably which may indicate common source both domains.

Physical functional limitations come with aging that impact social relationships and participation (SRP). This study aimed to investigate whether SRP mediates the association between MWB in frail older adults. We used survey data collected from 338 adults Norway 2017 2019. Older adult's limitation was measured by activities of daily living (ADL). Linear regressions were estimate effect ADL on MWB, SRP. A structural equation model (SEM) decompose total into direct indirect (via SRP) effects. found both significantly predicted MWB. The also statistically significant (β = 0.265; p < 0.01). higher 0.763; 0.01) than its 0.383; proportion is mediated about 34%. Analyses longitudinal framework showed similar results. Healthy can improve directly or indirectly through better Our findings may have important implications for design health policies further focusing maintaining investing
