Implementing a social innovation for community-based peer support for immigrant mothers in Sweden: a mixed-methods process evaluation

Introduction
A
South
African
social
innovation
based
on
peer
support
for
mothers
was
contextualized
in
southern
Sweden.
The
objective
of
the
project
to
expectant
women
and

children
immigrant
communities

Abstract
Evidence-based
interventions
have
the
potential
to
improve
health
and
well-being,
but
their
effectiveness
depends,
among
other
things,
on
challenging

balancing

fidelity
adaptation,
referred
as
fidelity-adaptation
dilemma.

implementation,

Implementation fidelity of intravenous ferric carboxymaltose administration for iron deficiency anaemia in pregnancy: a mixed-methods study nested in a clinical trial in Nigeria

Abstract
Background
Iron
deficiency
anaemia
is
common
among
pregnant
women
in
Nigeria.
The
standard
treatment
oral
iron
therapy,
which
can
be
sub-optimal
due
to
side
effects.
Intravenous
ferric
carboxymaltose
(FCM)
an
evidenced-based
alternative
with
a
more
favourable
effect
profile
requiring
administration
according
standardized
protocol.
In
this
study,
we
assessed
the
fidelity
of
administering
single
dose
FCM
protocol
and
identified
factors
influencing
implementation
fidelity.
Methods
We
used
mixed-method
approach
sequential
explanatory
design
nested
clinical
trial
across
11
facilities
Lagos
Kano
States,
Guided
by
conceptual
framework
fidelity,
quantitatively
adherence
directly
observing
every
alternate
administration,
using
intervention
procedure
checklist,
compared
median
facility
state.
Qualitative
assessment
was
conducted
via
in-depth
interviews
14
skilled
health
personnel
(SHP)
from
nine
purposively
selected
facilities,
semi-structured
interview
guide.
