Abstract Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) is a non-invasive, high-resolution imaging modality with growing application in dermatology and microvascular assessment. Accepted reference values for OCTA-derived parameters skin do not yet exist but need to be established drive OCTA into the clinic. In this pilot study, we assess range of metrics at rest after post-occlusive reactive hyperaemia (PORH) hands feet 52 healthy people 11 well-controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). We calculate each metric, measure test–retest repeatability, evaluate correlation demographic risk factors. Our study delivers extremity-specific, age-dependent coefficients repeatability nine baseline maximum PORH. Significant differences are seen hand, they present several foot. observed between hand foot, both PORH, most generally higher hand. Despite large variability over individuals, as expected based on heterogeneous ageing phenotypes population, 3.5% 18% mean value all metrics, which highlights opportunities OCTA-based studies larger cohorts, longitudinal monitoring, assessing efficacy interventions. Additionally, branchpoint density foot changes vessel diameter response PORH stood out good discriminators T2DM groups, indicates their potential biomarkers. This building our previous work, represents further step towards standardised clinical practice research.

Abstract Prevention of cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains one the largest public health challenges our time. Identifying individuals at increased risk an asymptomatic, sub-clinical stage is paramount importance for minimizing progression as well substantial and economic burden associated with overt CVD. Abstract Purpose Evidence suggests bovine dairy products may have neutral or beneficial effects on cardiometabolic health, despite being a source of saturated fat. The matrix, the structure and combination protein, fat, other nutrients, how they interact with each other, is purported to be responsible for these health effects. Whether this relationship extends endothelial function, as assessed by flow mediated dilation (FMD), remains elucidated. Methods Three electronic databases (PubMed, Embase Cochrane Central) were searched from inception until 5th September 2024. This review included randomised controlled trials (RCT) investigating any intervention which considered function using FMD in humans non-dairy alternative control. Results Of 4,220 records identified, 18 reports 11 RCT including 508 (53.3% male) participants, examined eligible evidence synthesis. Eight papers reported an improvement, nine no effect one decrease FMD. greatest found those impaired at baseline, whey protein high intakes observed most beneficial. Conclusion Bovine intake has health. demonstrates that Whey effective, although further quality area are warranted.

This systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated the long-term post-prandial effects of berry consumption on endothelial dysfunction (ED) in adults. To identify relevant randomised controlled trials (RCTs), a search was run studies that examined berries ED markers were included. A total 45 RCTs included, focusing such as flow-mediated dilation (FMD), pulse wave velocity (PWV), augmentation index (AIx), reactive hyperaemia (RHI) peripheral resistance (TPR). The revealed significantly increased FMD decreased PWV. However, no significant found for AIx, RHI or TPR. In studies, also improved FMD, but had impact PWV, AIx RHI. Overall, to benefit function, particularly improving though other cardiovascular less consistent. Factors like trial design type influenced outcomes.

Endothelial dysfunction has been proposed to play a key role in the pathogenesis of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) and its post-acute sequelae. Purpose: The pathogenesis of cerebral small vessel disease (cSVD) remains elusive despite evidence an association between white matter hyperintensities (WMH) and endothelial cerebrovascular dysfunction. Neurovascular coupling (NVC) may be a practical alternative measure function. We performed systematic review reported associations NVC cSVD. Methods: EMBASE PubMed were searched for studies reporting any STRIVE-defined marker cSVD during functional magnetic resonance imaging, transcranial Doppler, positron emission tomography, near-infrared spectroscopy or single-photon computed from inception to November 3rd, 2022. Where quantitative data was available using consistent tests analyses, results combined by inverse-variance weighted random effects meta-analysis. Findings: Of 29 (19 case-controls; 10 cohorts), 26 decreased with increasing severity cSVD, which 18 individually significant. In 28 WMH, 25 reduced NVC. Other markers associated in: eight nine microbleeds (six showing significant effect); three five lacunar stroke; no enlarged perivascular spaces. Specific SVD diseases particularly NVC, including six out seven in amyloid angiopathy all four CADASIL. limited meta-analyses, %BOLD occipital change visual stimulus consistently more severe WMH (seven studies, SMD −1.51, p < 0.01) −1.31, 0.01). Discussion Conclusion: multiple, neurovascular patients sporadic disease, CAA Cerebrovascular dysfunction, manifest as impaired common physiological dysfunction due injury that can easily measured large clinical practice.

Additionally, we aimed ascertain their possible interactions with microbiota related metabolites, secondary bile acids (SBA), short-chain fatty (SCFA) trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO). The gut microbial metabolite trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) is regarded as a novel risk factor for hypertension. Berberine (BBR) exerts cardiovascular protective effects by regulating the microbiota-metabolite production pathway. However, whether and how BBR alleviates TMAO-induced vascular dysfunction in hypertension remains unclear. In present study, we observed that plasma TMAO related bacterial abundance were significantly elevated negatively correlated with function 86 hypertensive patients compared 46 normotensive controls. activated endoplasmic reticulum stress (ERS) signaling pathway to promote endothelial cell apoptosis vitro.
