Since the first description of a set characteristics aging as so-called hallmarks or pillars in 2013/2014, these have served guideposts for research biology. They been examined range contexts, across tissues, response to disease conditions environmental factors, and benchmark various anti-aging interventions. While were intended capture generalizable aging, they are derived mostly from studies rodents humans. Comparative including species animal tree life great promise reveal new insights into mechanistic foundations there is diversity lifespan age-associated physiological changes. However, it unclear how well defined apply diverse species. Here, we review each twelve by Lopez-Otin 2023 with respect availability data We evaluate current methods used assess their potential be adapted comparative studies. Not unexpectedly, find that supporting described restricted humans few model systems no available many clades. Similarly, not all can easily assessed at least half hallmarks, today employed fill this gap knowledge, suggesting prioritized while developed study remaining hallmarks.

Abstract Probiotics are pivotal in maintaining or restoring the balance of human intestinal microbiota, a crucial factor mitigating diseases and preserving host’s health. Exploration into Bacteroides spp. reveals substantial promise their development as next-generation probiotics due to profound interaction with host immune cells capability regulate microbiome’s metabolism by significantly impacting metabolite production. These beneficial bacteria exhibit potential ameliorating various health issues such disorders, cardiovascular diseases, behavioral even cancer. Though it’s important note that high percentage them well opportunistic pathogens, posing risks under certain conditions. Studies highlight role modifying responses improving conditions regulating lymphocytes, controlling metabolism, preventing inflammation The safety efficacy strains currently scrutiny European Commission for authorization food processing, marking significant step towards commercialization. recent advancements bacterial isolation sequencing methodologies, coupled integration Metagenome-Assembled Genomes (MAGs) binning from metagenomics data, continue unveil spp., aiding broader understanding application these novel disease management.

Abstract Older individuals experience increased susceptibility and mortality to bacterial infections, but the underlying etiology remains unclear. Herein, it is shown that aging‐associated reduction of commensal Parabacteroides goldsteinii ( P. ) in both aged mice humans critically contributes worse outcomes infection. The colonization live conferred protection against infections. Metabolomic profiling reveals a protective compound, apigenin, generated by , antagonizes clearance defects mice. AMP‐binding protein ampB identified as key gene involved apigenin synthesis using homologous recombination bacteria. Mechanistically, binds directly potential sites on Fgr (M341 D404), preventing its inhibitory role Vav1 phosphorylation, therefore promoting activation Cdc42/Rac1, Arp2/3 expression subsequent actin reorganization, which enhanced phagocytosis macrophages Collectively, findings suggest dysbiosis gut microbiota may impair host defense mechanisms increase infections older adults highlight microbiota‐apigenin‐Fgr axis possible route ameliorate antibacterial defects.

Despite the advantages of endoscopic surgery in reducing trauma and enhancing recovery for breast cancer patients, its impact on gut microbiota, which is crucial health estrogen metabolism, remains unclear. Further investigation necessary to fully understand this implications. Between June December 2022, fecal samples were collected from 20 patients who underwent surgery. The microbiota composition was determined using 16S rRNA sequencing, while metabolites analyzed through liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS). Bioinformatics statistical analyses employed identify significant alterations microbial taxa abundance assess intergroup differences. These included t-tests pairwise comparisons, one-way ANOVA multiple group chi-square tests categorical data analysis. Endoscopic subtly changed diversity composition. Post-surgery, there a reduction Lachnospiraceae, Monoglobaceae Firmicutes Bacteroides ratios. Shifts also observed, impacted pathways such as primary bile biosynthesis Ascorbate aldarate with PE(PGD1/18:1(9Z)) identified key differential metabolite that increased post-surgery. Azasetron, tyramine glucuronide, DL-DOPA, phthalide, acetophenazine, aciclovir, creatinine bicarbonate, 4-oxo-L-proline being associated distinct bacterial taxa. Breast undergoing experience shift their metabolic profiles. Therefore, postoperative management, particular focus adjustment patient outcomes.

The gut-brain axis (GBA) denotes the dynamic and bidirectional communication system that connects gastrointestinal tract central nervous (CNS). This review explored this axis, focusing on role of microbial diversity fitness in maintaining health preventing neurodegeneration, particularly Alzheimer's disease (AD). Gut dysbiosis, characterized by imbalance populations beneficial harmful bacteria, has been associated with increased systemic inflammation, neuroinflammation, progression AD through pathogenic mechanisms involving amyloid deposition, tauopathy, blood-brain barrier (BBB) permeability. Emerging evidence highlighted therapeutic potential probiotics, dietary interventions, intermittent fasting restoring balance, reducing minimizing neurodegenerative risks. Probiotics synbiotics are promising helping improve cognitive function metabolic health, while patterns like Mediterranean diet were linked to decreased neuroinflammation enhanced communication. Despite significant advancement, further research is needed elucidate specific strains, metabolites, influencing brain health. Future studies employing longitudinal designs advanced omics technologies essential developing targeted microbiome-based therapies for managing AD-related disorders.

Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic autoimmune inflammatory disease characterized by the inflammation of synovial fluid. The incidence cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) increasing in RA patients. This research first report to investigate anti-arthritic effect avocado peel nutraceutical (APN) and its potential mitigating risk associated with RA. antioxidant activity phytochemical composition APN were assessed. interaction APN’s active compounds protein tyrosine phosphatase non-receptor type 22 (PTPN22) was studied using molecular docking. impact on plasma lipid profile, oxidative markers, indices coronary atherogenicity as CVD markers evaluated. gene expression COX-2, IL-6, IL-1β, IL-10, TNF-α liver spleen tissues measured. rat gut microbiota profile investigated 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing. exhibited high activity, low thrombogenicity indices, ratio hypocholesterolemic hypercholesterolemic fatty acids indicating cardioprotective potential. administration led reduction stress dyslipidemia, markers. downregulated genes, while IL-10 significantly upregulated spleen. Treatment favorable restoring eubiosis modulating RA-associated bacterial taxa linked impaired immune function cardiometabolic diseases. In docking, β-amyrin ellagic acid showed highest binding affinity for PTPN22. may represent promising approach ameliorating present results will be offering foundation future in-depth nutraceuticals from agriculture by-products. Additionally, they supporting public health policies aimed at preventing controlling rheumatoid arthritis.
