This
paper
studies
the
impact
of
US-China
tariff
war
on
China,
using
high-frequency
night
lights
data
and
grid-level
measures
exposure.
Exploiting
within-grid
variation
over
time
controlling
extensively
for
grid-specific
contemporaneous
trends,
we
find
that
each
one-percentage-point
increase
in
exposure
to
US
tariffs
was
associated
with
a
0.59%
reduction
night-time
luminosity.
highly
skewed
across
locations:

accounted

China's
population.
But
tail

population

saw
an
implied
2.52%
(1.62%)
decrease
income
per
capita

This
study
uses
Chinese
firm
export
data
to
investigate
the
heterogeneous
impact
of
economic
policy
uncertainty
(EPU)
faced
by
firms
on
recovery,
and
then
explores
moderating
effect
regional
digital
economy.
We
find
that
rise
in
EPU
due
external
shocks
weakens
firms'
recovery.
By
reducing
costs
improving
margins,
development
economy
mitigates
this
weakening
effect,
but
is
pronounced
more
productive
firms.
These
findings
provide
insights
for
supply
chain
stability
under
uncertainty,
thus
promoting
collaborative
real-economy
