Abstract AIM This study examined the effects of a virtual reality (VR) experience on empathy and attitudes toward older adults in prelicensure nursing students. BACKGROUND With an aging global population concerns about age bias health care its role disparities, nurse educators must develop educational strategies that improve decrease bias. METHOD A sample 61 second-degree, students participated quasi-experimental, comparison group study. The intervention VR experience; completed narrative case RESULTS mixed analysis variance showed both groups significantly improved from pretest to posttest for attitudes, there were no differences between groups. CONCLUSION observed findings suggest effective at improving attitudes.

Nursing specialty certification validates nurses' mastery of knowledge in disease management, education, or leadership above entry-level education and licensing. Research suggests direct relationships between nursing certifications patient care quality. However, rates are still low. This study aims to better understand perceptions the facilitators barriers promoting desires ability obtain certifications, which exclude advanced practice roles, such as nurse practitioner midwife.This qualitative descriptive took place virtually across United States from May 2022 September 2022. The sample was a nested large national survey study. Among nurses agreeing be interviewed, purposive sampling method used achieve maximum variation diversity, years nurse, race, ethnicity, status. Information saturation gauge size. Data were collected via in-depth virtual face-to-face interviews. coding process based on Colaizzi's data analysis.Twenty participated Five major themes emerged related organizational culture strategies foster certifications. five included 1) sharing resources, 2) ownership sense belonging, 3) mentorship role modeling, 4) recognizing efforts accomplishments, 5) cultivating meaning, purpose, support.The findings indicate that significantly promote continuing learning environments.
