Childhood maltreatment has been linked to adult somatic symptoms, though this rarely examined in daily life. Furthermore, the localization of somatization associated with childhood and its subtypes is unknown. This large-scale experience sampling study uses body maps examine relationships between maltreatment, subtypes, intensity location negative sensations Participants (N=2,234; 33% female, 67% male) were part MyBPLab 2.0, a large conducted using bespoke mobile phone application. Four categories (emotional abuse, physical neglect, emotional neglect) measured Trauma Questionnaire. Using gender-matched human silhouettes, participants indicated feelings activation body. generally four all positively heightened on both front back maps. For females, total was abdomen lower back, while for males, association localized back. Similarly, each subscales had associations except which also males. These likely reflect increased individuals exposed suggesting role psychotherapeutic interventions alleviating distress.

Somatoform pain poses major challenges in medicine. There is a lack of quantitative instruments that systematically assess psychosocial aspects somatoform pain. A better knowledge such could contribute (1) to gaining further insight into the relationship between psychodynamic and components pain, (2) facilitating development monitoring improved interventions targeting mechanisms An item pool on biopsychosocial was developed completed by 200 patients with disorder. In addition, anxiety (STAI), depression (BDI II), somatization (SOMS-2), quality life (SF-36) were assessed. As compared norm data, reported higher scores for (BDI-II) (SMOS-2), lower (SF-36). Applying factor analyses, new questionnaire (QSP-31) identify evidence construct validity six scales through confirmatory analysis: Relationships negative emotions, Negative attitudes towards help-seeking, pain-related childhood experiences, own body, doctor-patient relationship, Perceived control. Cronbach's alpha coefficients these lay within range .81-.92. Regarding criterion validity, moderate correlations expected directions found all anxiety, depression, somatic symptom severity, life, except scale The QSP-31 appears promising identification relevant associated experience might be useful instrument.

The initially screened based their titles, those meeting search criteria, including study population, investigated regions, types traumas, further assessed for relevance. Ultimately, 136 selected discussed review. Trauma experiences life can have a significantly negative influence person's health by causing neurodevelopmental impairments, system. While it is understood that influences how individuals think, behave, feel, results neuroimaging studies reveal variations different subtypes. These changes merit deeper investigation future research fully understand reasons behind diverse findings existing literature.
