Purpose Wind power is the most promising renewable energy source in China. The development of digital technologies has brought about unprecedented growth opportunities and prospects for wind power. However, relationship between technology adoption total factor productivity (TFP) industry China not been empirically assessed. This study aims to clarify whether how affects TFP Design/methodology/approach Based on data listed companies Chinese from 2006 2021, this proposes verifies relevant hypotheses with two-way fixed effects regression models. Findings empirical results indicate that cornerstone China’s industry. Reconfiguration capability technological innovation serially mediate above relationship. In addition, incentive effect varies among firms. impact more significant firms are old located economically undeveloped regions. Originality/value one earliest attempts investigate sectors emerging economies. By integrating dynamic theory analytical framework “Capability-Behavior-Performance” into context, offers theoretical insights can enhance organizational reconfiguration capability, thereby stimulating subsequent TFP. Numerous scholars have attempted to explain the factors allowing use of ambidextrous innovation strategies (AISs), including balanced ambidexterity (BA) and combined (CA). However, yet consider digital transformation (DT) as a possible antecedent, despite its soundness in guiding firms their selection appropriate this era. This study constructs theoretical framework effect DT on firm AISs evaluates proposed hypotheses using panel data from Chinese listed companies 2011 2021. Results indicate that has an inverted U-shaped impact BA but positive linear CA. The examination moderating effects reveals organizational slack negatively moderates contribution CA, industrial competition can flatten relationship between BA. results hold after series robustness tests is conducted. Our findings provide new practical insights into strategy research.
