Abstract Sustainable project management practices have garnered increasing attention in recent years. Consequently, the age of digitalization and globalization, numerous studies extensively explore relationship between sustainable practice. While optimism abounds, there is insufficient research into how what types managers effectively manage resources to enhance sustainability projects when stakeholders are engaged. Therefore, we aim address this gap by analyzing a sample 211 Chinese involved China‐Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). Our findings indicate that with digital literacy experience effective at managing existing promote practices, while financial do not directly exhibit practices. Furthermore, digitally literate more likely engage bricolage (effective resource management), whereas experienced less so presence stakeholder engagement. Moreover, engagement does appear moderate manager bricolage. Based on these findings, our recommends organizations focus employing their limited for management. Further practical implications discussed.
