The Japanese plum tree (Prunus salicina Lindl.) is mainly cultivated in temperate areas of China and some European countries. Certain amounts wood (from pruning works) are generated every year from this crop worldwide commercial significance. main objective work was to value agricultural woody residue, for which the chemical composition extracts six cultivars investigated, antiproliferative activity pure phenolics present those measured. For characterization, total phenolic content DPPH radical-scavenging assays HPLC‒DAD/ESI‒MS analyses were performed, with procyanidin (−)-ent-epicatechin-(2α→O→7,4α→8)-epicatechin (5) propelargonidin (+)-epiafzelechin-(2β→O→7,4β→8)-epicatechin (7) being major components extracts. Some quantitative differences found among cultivars, proanthocyanidins ranged 1.50 (cv. ‘Fortune’) 4.44 ‘Showtime’) mg/g dry wood. Regarding antitumoral activity, eight four compounds evaluated MCF-7 cells after 48 h induction, showing extract cv. ‘Songold’ (‒)-annphenone (3), best (IC50: 424 μg/mL 405 μg/mL, respectively).

Numerous studies have previously demonstrated the antimicrobial activity of plant extracts rich in procyanidins. However, these investigations that focused on uncharacterized do not provide information structure-activity relationships compounds. The aim this work was to investigate antibacterial and antibiofilm properties 27 phenolics with coumarin, naphthoquinone pyranone moieties against foodborne microorganisms, as well establish relationships. Minimal inhibitory concentrations (MICs) for each compound were investigated, their ability inhibiting biofilm formation disrupting formed biofilms by food pathogens. Our compounds show high activities Gram-positive bacteria. Regarding observed, coumarin moiety seems favor both S. aureus strains assayed, while a enhances effects B. cereus. Moreover, replacement OH groups B-ring methoxy impairs target bacteria, presence Cl or molecules enhance inhibition disruption preformed biofilms. The aging population is steadily increasing, with and age-related diseases serving as major risk factors for morbidity, mortality, economic burden. Peanuts, known the "longevity nut" in China, have been shown to offer various health benefits, peanut skin extract (PSE) emerging a key compound of interest. This study investigates bioactive PSE anti-aging potential explores its underlying mechanisms action. Procyanidin A1 (PC A1) was isolated from PSE, guided by K6001 yeast replicative lifespan model. PC prolonged yeast-like chronological PC12 cells. To further confirm effect, cellular senescence, hallmark aging, assessed. In senescent cells induced etoposide (Etop), alleviated senescence reducing ROS levels, decreasing percentage cells, restoring proliferative capacity. Transcriptomics analysis revealed that apoptosis, reduced senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP) factors, modulated phosphatidylinositol 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (Akt) signaling pathway. antioxidative capacity also evaluated, showing enhanced resistance oxidative stress reactive oxygen species (ROS) malondialdehyde (MDA) levels increasing superoxide dismutase (SOD) activity. Moreover, autophagy, evidenced an increase fluorescence-labeled autophagic compartments confirmation via Western blot autophagy-related proteins. addition, treatment autophagy inhibitor abolished senescence-alleviating effects A1.
