Calcium inadequacy in Asian populations has been well documented, but whether it improved over time remains uncertain. We analyzed dietary calcium intake and its association with osteoporosis prevalence a 20-year period 48,653 adults (21,932 men 26,721 women, aged 19 years older) Korea, using data from the first to seventh Korea National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (1998-2018). Over past 20 years, Korean consistently fell short of recommended intake, women older particularly affected, typically consuming only 40-80% levels. The 30-49 age group had highest (497-568 mg/day), while those 75+ lowest (319-457 mg/day). A significant inverse relationship was found between risk, lower associated higher odds developing osteoporosis, as determined by both physician diagnoses bone mineral density measurements (

The nutritional value of any food product has historically been measured by the calorific individual components, harking back to days development bomb calorimeter. A fuller understanding nutrition later took into account need for specific such as proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals, that ere known be required good human health growth. In milk products, these include casein whey lactose, fat triacylglycerides, minor lipid components (both charged neutral), calcium, micronutrients. Whey proteins are richer in essential amino acids, compared with casein, also contain branched chain acids muscle Calcium is found form calcium phosphate mineral dispersed, but largely insoluble milk. All this information does not take interactions between therefore can considered a reductionist approach. This review takes structural physical chemical approach understand how digestibility delivery impacted microstructures nutrient component interactions, focus on mechanistic explanations.

Ca2+ and Mg2+ are essential nutrients, deficiency can cause serious health problems. Thus, lack of lead to osteoporosis, with incidence rising both in absolute age-specific terms, while is associated type II diabetes. Prevention via vitamin D or estrogen controversial, the bioavailability from supplements significantly lower than that milk products. Problems likely increase as populations age number people on vegan diets surges. Developing new therapeutic strategies requires a better understanding molecular mechanisms involved absorption by intestinal epithelia. The vitamin-D dependent, active pathway for uptake upper small intestine involving TRPV6 highly efficient but only accounts about 20% total uptake. Instead, most thought occur passive paracellular diffusion across ileum, although sufficiently high luminal concentrations difficult achieve.. Interestingly, colon caecum also have considerable capacity Mg2+, which unclear. Intriguingly, stimulating fermentation prebiotics enhances colonic absorption, rise ~10% ~30% total. Notably, releases protons, inhibits channels selective (TRPV6 TRPM6/TRPM7). Conversely, non-selective cation channel TRPV3 stimulated intracellular acidification numerous herbal compounds. Spicy, fiber-rich food, traditionally consumed many cultures, might enhance this pathway.
